  February 4, 2013 - cheers, I've been drinking a lot of Riojas lately and was looking forward to this bottle. It started fine, my first impression was good, but then it never opened up. In fact after an hour, it tasted a bit flat. 2002 is one of the worst vintages in recent Rioja history and this wine suffered from that. Riojas are a terrific bargain and I did enjoy this wine, but the 2002 isn't worth the money. Buy a different year. Nice color, decent on the nose, nice earthy taste up front, then a slightly metallic flat finish.
