February 8, 2013 - This wine was every bit as good now as when I had it back in 2008. It seems to have rebounded upward a bit due to aging. the cork was impeccable and thanks Mr. Hobbs for spending money for good corks. The fruit seems to have made a comeback and it was very complex, with lots of flavor going on beside fruit. Long finish of up to a minute or more. So utterly good and hasn't lost a step at 12 years. Sad this was my last one, but if I had another two or more I wouldn't feel bad about aging for even another five years or longer. Seems like the well made Cali cabs can age for upwards of twenty years, perhaps more. Nothing really faded badly, which is why I say it can go longer than the CT recommended last drinking age of 2012. It is a stand alone wine which should be enjoyed without food, but would also work if you had something that could pair well, say, some sharp cheese and sausage or meat dish, say a steak or a chop. Tannins are just about undetectable. Highly recommended.
