March 8, 2013 - Had this about two years ago, so decided it was time to taste again. The cork on that bottle fell apart; not this time. The bouquet was one of the strangest I've ever experienced. I could detect a faint scent about an inch from the glass, but was completely odorless when I put my nose in the glass. In fact, it took better that a half hour for the bouquet to begin to emerge. But what it lacked in bouquet it made up for in taste. The taste was every bit as good as I recalled. Not overly dense but just right. This was not overly fruit driven the first time, and it is about the same now. Taste of something like cigar at the finish. Alcohol completely hidden. Fair amount of acidity still present. Full bodied but not overwhelming. Threw a silty sediment in the last glass that a Vinturi couldn't filter. So fine you would have to use a filter paper to remove it but was not a problem. I have one more left, and I want to give this about five more years to see what occurs. CT says drink by 2015, but I think this could make it easily for another five years, possibly to 2023. Based on how long it took for both the flavors and bouquet to come out, a decant of at least 1/2 hour might be in order. Recommended.
