  April 19, 2013 - Maybe this wine is in a weird place, but I found it to be completely dominated by the merlot. It was very plummy with maybe a little bit of blackberry and vanilla. If I'd tasted this blind, I never would have pegged it as a blend, and especially not one from Ridge. They're one of my favorite producers, but this seemed very "new world" in the sense of very ripe and prominently oaked. After about 5 hours of air, I started getting some notes of red currants and a little cedar, but they were easily overwhelmed by the plum.
