  • Wine Fool Likes this wine: 97 points

November 12, 2013 - How to describe this wine? Let me just say that it is great. The color is impenetrably dark for a wine that is five years old. The nose is rich and explodes from the glass. It is a luxurious expression of ripe berries, vanilla, tobacco, leather, minerals and spices. In the mouth, the wine is full-bodied and the black fruit, earth and chocolate flavors are very, very deep. The concentration is mind bending! The rich flavors ride on a wave of juicy acidity and the length is impressively long. The noble tannins are in perfect balance. Despite its size, the wine remains poised, suave and balanced. The most complete and sublime ACV I have tasted. 97+ points. (Were I to rank, first to last, the ACVs tasted today, it would be 2008, 2005, 2007, 2002, and 2006.)

11/12/13, 5:27 PM - I see you have tasted a few vintages of these and I also have a few ACVs as well. I totally agree on the 07 and 08 reviews. Have you tried an 09 yet? I did and was disappointed. I am hoping it was an off bottle as I have a couple more 09's in the cellar.
