April 1, 2014 - How times have changed: 29 months on oak rather than 29 years! The wine, although obviously very different, is none the worse. This blend of 93% Tempranillo and 7% Mazuelo is very lively and energetic, deep and spicy, with ripe and plummy black fruit and bright red berry fruits, an incredibly youthful profile for a 10 year old wine, perfectly integrated oak, real drive, hints of tar and minerals, wonderful tannic grip; very good length. If this is the modern face of Murrietta, it looks well. This should be a 30 - 40 year wine. At the Q lounge in the Mélia Hotel in Bilbao.
