May 11, 2014 - Gevry-Chambertin should be a minefield, a village wine with a sneaky name that sounds like Premier Cru. I was lucky this was chosen for me by a good merchant.

Everything you'd hope for in a young Pinot at this level. Beautiful. Clean clear varietal without being cosmetic. Plenty of frisky acid (in spite of some fears for 2009) balanced against a nice seam of lively fruit sweetness (a touch of sherbet) in a dry savoury food friendly wine.

Over dinner the wine changed to become deeper, softer, slightly cafe-latte approachable. Interesting.

I'm not sure how long this would age. I expect 10 years.

Cork. 13%. The label says "Les Jeaunes Rois" (the young kings). I'm not sure if this refers to a different blend, or a vineyard.
