    June 20, 2014 - Midsummer Night's Celebration (Pagan Way) (1 star L'Effervescence (Tokyo)): TN's here represent quite an amusing read.
    Every 5th or so are not impressed and some seem convinced that this represents some kind of modern over-extracted and over-oaked plonk. Of course, tastes differ.

    It has very little sediment because the grapes are tiny and come from a truly arid climate, which means natural concentration. Made in quite a different style from Rioja, and (arguably) with less oak.
    Nose of warm, sunny notes of very mature grapes.
    On the palate we all found a rich, GRANDE wine that I'd happily enjoy every day. Perfectly balanced: the acids keep this wine fresh, despite its magnificent concentration and warm, rich fruit on the palate.

    Still almost untouched by age, and should (according to my palate) not be drunk on this side of 2020. Will mature very well! One btl to go for ~2023.

    What a nite you had! So that Shiraz matched our Toro... :-) I see.
    Toro produced, produces, BIG wines nowadays softed by french oak. One reason you founded less oaky than some Rioja.
    Speaking freely with their enologist, 2004 is one of his favorite Numanthia ever so well-kept is a typically 25 plus runner.
    BTW, did you ever try their Thermanthia? Depther and richer for me. Also really expensive.
    Finally, may i recommend old-fashionable Mezcal for the end?

    There is also no thirst for Mezcal :-)

    Heyyy, I am a mezcal fan, a new absente for no-snob drinkers. The more I taste, the more I am looking for.

    6/21/14, 12:32 PM - Had my first Mezcal half a life ago. For a week after, I burped those rather unfresh, stale aromas of the larvae's intestines. I still get nauseous from thinking about it.
    But, in your company, I'd be willing to at least reconscider :-)
