  October 20, 2014 - Opened by Mark. Lot L1742. 100% Chardonnay from Cramant, Avize, and Oger. This was the only tete du cuvee which was a multi vintage wine and is made by the Cattier family. 1st time I have had this wine. Pale straw color. Medium bead. Nothing wrong with this wine but nothing special either. I think all of us at the dinner expected more. Notes of stony fruit, brioche and lemon zest. The most linear of the 6 champagnes. The gangstas who drink this could do a lot better with the $300 that they spend on this bottle. 89-90 points.

  12/14/14, 5:21 PM - Why must this be associated with gangsters? Because most wealthy people who can afford good champagne accumulated their wealth by being kind and caring? Carl Icahn is probably the most gangsta of anyone I've ever met. Just rate the champagne. No need for politics.

  12/15/14, 12:38 PM - I don't think there is anything political about my tasting note. The reference to "gangstas" relates to the fact that this house is now owned by gangsta rapper JayZ and is featured prominently in gangsta rap videos.
