May 10, 2015 - First one of these in almost two and a half years. Consistent with my prior note, but not quite as tight and restrained as last time. Still a young-looking, semi-opaque magenta in color. Offers pretty, complex aromas of crushed dark berries, cassis, earth and a hint of vanilla on the nose - along with a noticeable amount of heat. Full-bodied and very rich. Almost syrupy. Loaded with tangy boysenberry, plum and dark currant fruit, which shows excellent depth and intensity on the mid-palate. This has definitely unwound quite a bit since last time and finishes with fine length - but is still noticeably oaky and tannic. Outstanding, but still not quite the great wine I expected it to be. Will save my last remaining bottle for another few years.
