June 5, 2015 - Darkish ruby red, a tad bit of a brown tinge. Nose: very aromatic, dark fruit and graphite jump out of the glass. We're talking dark cherries, blackberries, dark plum, and well-dried raisins. There's the graphite, and a bit of robust herbs like rosemary and thyme. Palate: medium bodied, solid dose of acidity and very smoothed out tannins. This is well integrated. Initial flavors are dark cherries, thyme, subdued oak, smoke and a touch of tar. There's also the classic Washington saline and iodine dominated minerality. The profile fills out as it settles. Finish: not the longest lived finish by any stretch, the palate profile is held together throughout the finish. This is a very good representation of what Washington can achieve in the Bordeaux-style blend, and shows off the Washington profile so many of us loves. It wouldn't sit on this any longer, it's drinking nicely now.
