August 15, 2016 - Dinner at Marc's (Marc's Apartment - Chicago, IL): Incredible wine. The color was dark and deep. The aromas were on point with really nice dark fruit, earth, floral notes, graphite, and tobacco. A couple commented that this had a very left-bank-type of nose. Either way, the aromas were very sexy. The palate was very youthful - some thought, if tasted blindly, they would have pegged this as maybe a 1989 or 1990 instead of a 1961. I know what you're thinking, "could this be a fake wine?" The good news is that the current owner of the bottle knows the complete provenance of the bottle, so we're in good shape there. Lots of lush dark fruit to the palate, tannins were perfectly smooth and the earthy spices were very nice.
