March 28, 2008 - I took a bottle of this to a friends house in Michigan a couple weeks ago. We paired this with dinner of grilled lamb chops which had been marinated in lemon, garlic and mustard using a recipe that my wife got out of the most recent Lewelling newsletter. My wife also made a red wine/beef stock and leftover marinade reduction au jus with the lamb. This wine was my favorite pairing with the lamb. Last time I had this was in 2003 and it was overpoweringly tannic. This wine has really opened since then. Decanted for 2 hours. Deep purple color. Mocha scents on the nose. Medium to full bodied. Notes of rich black fruit, cocoa and vanilla oak. Complex and well balanced with a full mouth feel. Long creamy finish. My wife and I had just visited Pride the week before opening this to try their 2005's and this was better than any of the fine 2005's that we had there. 96 points.
