April 7, 2008 - Still a solid dark purple. A year ago, this had fresh and stinky complex aromas. It's settled now into more old world elegance with violets, roses, pine, cherry, and rhubarb of medium intensity. Good "punchy" fruit on the palate with really nice tannin levels. Medium acidity, medium+ body. Rewarding finish of medium+ length. Some might say "one-dimensional" but I would say "straightforward" and I like that this wine is confident. Could slip blindly in with many $50-$60 wines. Like that, too. (5+12+15+8) = 90
