March 22, 2018 - 8% alcohol. Tasted blind among 49 other 2016 Riesling Kabinetts in Kabinett Cup 2016.

Pale green color. Very pure, quite ripe and thoroughly classic Mosel Riesling nose with aromas of sweet apple and slatey stone. The wine feels ripe, medium-dy to medium-sweet and very balanced on the palate with flavors of ripe red apples, some wet stones and a little bit of floral character. The acidity feels moderately high, but not as bracing as Kerpens wines can sometimes be. The finish is pure, ripe and juicy with medium-dry to medium-sweet flavors of fresh apples, stony minerality and a hint of juicy citrus fruits.

A very classic and balanced Mosel Riesling where everything seems to be nicely in place. However, the wine also feels very linear and pretty one-dimensional - the wine shows the grace and balance of a ballet dancer, but flavor-wise the wine is very primary and lacking in depth. For now it is a pleasant yet a bit simple, medium-dry Kabinett, but perhaps with a handful of years it might gain some additional complexity. The wine managed to secure a total of 3 points from 12 judges, making it overall the 12th best wine out of 50 wines. Solid value at 10,50€
