July 7, 2018 - Splash decanted x2 at home then off to the restaurant with friends. Loads of red, juicy fruit on the front end. Feathery tannins on entry and halfway down. Pleasing finish. Developed a little more dark fruit, depth and weight as the evening moved on, almost moving toward the '03 Cos we had at the table also. Fun to watch these wines evolve thru an evening! This fruit/acid mix is very approachable now with a slight decant to soften it further.....

7/7/18, 10:01 PM - How did you think the drinking window on your '09 Branaire compared to the '05 you just had?

7/8/18, 6:57 AM - You know------two very different wines in very different places. Sweeter upfront fruit in the '09, much less lead pencil and while I generally find the texture of Branaire soft, the '09, especially after the quick splash, decants at home was even softer. I took it because I knew my Cali cab loving friend would like it. Amazing how it changed over the next two hours to a darker little heavier wine. It really moved toward the '03 Cos. It will have many years ahead of it. I will not splash decant the next bottle and see how it compares. Thanks for asking!....Mark
