October 13, 2018 - Coravin fun - new arrivals (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Rich ripe black fruit, plenty of caramel and vanilla, slightly oxidised notes, cream, leather. In the mouth it's juicy with ripe black fruit and a slight redcurrant underpin. Vanilla, leather, sweet spice.

10/18/18, 5:08 PM - Sure is other than buying early & holding onto it for years but this is also fun to source some i know are good & try for a bargain :D

  • chatters commented:

10/18/18, 5:11 PM - yeah, I've tried the whole buying early thing...doesn't work for me...I tend to get to about 10 years and then, poof, it's gone!

10/18/18, 5:21 PM - lol luckily i can hold onto them but i sometimes hold onto them a bit too long.

  • chatters commented:

    10/18/18, 6:08 PM - Wah? Surely not!

  • thebatcavewines commented:

10/18/18, 6:20 PM - I have held onto some too long & kicked myself but not anymore.

10/19/18, 1:26 PM - Whites is the danger area for me...especially Australian under cork...but it's usually tings I'd like to age e.g. those Hunter Sems from the 90's...

10/19/18, 3:57 PM - I unfortunately don't like whites. I drank too many cheap white casks before going out when i was young & now i feel like puking if i try one :D

  • chatters commented:

    10/21/18, 2:40 AM - Oh no!

  • thebatcavewines commented:

    10/21/18, 4:56 PM - I know! I also don't like champagne :)

10/21/18, 5:03 PM - Ahh, that I do understand...I'm with you on that one. Some of it is pleasant enough but it certainly doesn't merit the amount of fuss (or cost) that it generates. I know I should feel the same about Burgundy but it's a bit like golf for amateurs - every now and then you get a good bottle that means you put up with all those bad bottles (read shots for bottles for the golf analogy). I've given up golf...not sure how long it will take for Burgundy...
