  January 25, 2019 - A hedonistic beauty. Dark as night. Gave this a 60 min decant and it was ready to roll. A lot of controversy with Caymus regular that shouldn’t flow over into the SS but this is a well made wine, though definitely Napa. Poured thick, agree with the oily analogy in a prior note. Blueberry dominated with hints of blackberry, definite dark fruit profile. Hints of Chinese five spice and wood/oak complimented the fruit. Tannins have faded in the background. Faint reminder of the old Merus wines from the early 2000s. Well into the drinking window, no need to wait.
