  April 24, 2004 - immediately upon opening, the bouquet was open and lovely. it's been in the decanter for the last 3 hours, and it has barely budged. however, i don't feel the wine is closed, just over extracted in an attempt to salvage something out of the vintage. dusty, dry, austere, unyielding fruit. boring. if only the tasting could follow up the promising nose. not undrinkable, but never have i been so happy to have consumed my only bottle of a wine. i know RP gave this 93 big ones.
