August 10, 2019 - Pop and poured by the person who brought it.

A huge, wide open nose of pure Serralunga. Balsam, cherry fruit, roses, and tar. A lung filling nose that draws you in. I could have just smelled this wine and been happy. Expansive on the palate with tremendous breadth, yet all in focus with a simultaneous grace coupled with its power. Structured and vertical with perfectly ripe fruit, wonderful inner mouth perfume, iron fist in velvet glove, all the while not showing any heat. It finishes with menthol and balsamic notes. Very long on the back end with ripe tannins that are in great balance with the wine's body and fruit. Drinking youthfully beautifully. This surprised me a lot with both how open it was and how harmonious it was. This exceeded my expectations. It looks like there may be bottle variability with this bottling, but based on this bottle, this is terrific and a joy to drink.
