  February 16, 2020 - Its been a long time since I have ran across a blue and black wine, but here we are...Very dense, reminding me of a big Napa Cab like Maybach..Yet the nose speaks a bit of French, like a modern late harvest St. Emilion in the likes of Tetre Rotebeouf. Its definitely well crafted and very Merlot dominated with smoky raspberries and cured meat scents. You would expect lots of sweetness from the body and nose, but its quite dry for the style and packed with substantial mid throttle power. Its soft, yet still powerful with a very persistent finish and lots of exit tug...First 2/3 of bottle was best, making me think, this is at peak for the style. Will drink other 2 bottles over 2 years...Drink

  3/6/20, 11:38 AM - Hi Purple Tooth. Was this decanted or PnP? I have few vintages of KE and they're really powerful, dense stuff. Was thinking of picking up some 2008s but it sounds like it might not be a long ager (you mentioned soft and dry). Don't like my wines to get flaccid with no bite left in them. As a whole, 2008 Napa vintage was one for my favorite recent vintages, including 2010, 2013, and of course 2016 ;) Cheers.

  3/6/20, 11:43 AM - Hello! No, I don't decant wines I don't know until I taste them. This was my first bottle of this, so I tasted it and it was just right and in no need of decanting. I like a bit of bite to my wines too, especially Napa wines. To me, this is at peak, but can hold another 5 years and remain intact. Nice wine, though a bit pricy, but again, definitely unique like a late harvest St. Emilion. I hope this helps!

  3/6/20, 11:52 AM - Thanks for the info. Yeah pricey stuff but these days its so hard to find great Napa or Bordeaux without having to pay out a large sum for them :/
  As for comparison to a St. Emilion (Tetre Rotebeouf), I wouldn't know cuz I don't drink right bank. Left bank only... mainly Pauillac and St. Estephe ;) Cheers.
