September 2, 2020 - Dark ruby. A bold and attractive nose, that somehow strikes me as quintessentially Barossa. Super-ripe fruit (black cherries?) and plenty of oak. On the palate there's loads of juicy raspberry and black cherry, swathed in creamy oak (or oaky cream.) Little tannin evident, but what there is more than enough of is acidity. At first I thought this was a 90 pointer, but the bit of the acidity is just too nippy. I suppose it's meant to provide freshness to balance the sweet fruit, but in fact it puts the wine out of balance, even with lamb on the plate. A shame - so nearly brilliant. Screwcap. 14%,

9/4/20, 2:50 PM - 48 hours later, the last couple of glasses in the bottle had softened considerably - and were much more in balance. Overall, not a bad effort!
