October 13, 2020 - Glowing ruby. A distinct impression of stems on the nose, as well as sweet cherry. The initial impact on the palate is of lovely juicy cherry fruit. The acidity is very well judged, and propels the wine though to a lovely finish that balances sweetness and crispness. The nose has a distinct aroma that I associate with 'natural' wines. I don't honestly know how to characterise it. Something slightly rotten, slimy cabbage. Jeez, that sounds worse than I meant it to! (It night just be the stems, which fans of a certain kind of old-fashioned Burgundy might love.) Time for a snap judgement: it's one of the best English Pinots I've tasted, and is well worth a try. But it lacks the focus to make it an outstanding example of this varietal. Screwcap, 11.5%.

10/18/20, 12:07 PM - After 24 hours, the stemmy/cabbagey aromas have blown off, and the overall impression is more pleasant. Still lacking some focus, however...
