October 30, 2020 - Checked the cellar and by accident found some wet cardboard boxes. Examined the cause - most of our 15' Phantoms show leaky cork. This bottle was by far the worst and had already lost around half an inch from the top. Opened up - cork very smooth and around 1cm wide wet. Still - nose of cork and bottle good. In fact the wine was excellent (the leaking probably was just a few days old, i rearranged in the vicinity just a few weeks before). Much more fruit than '12 and very well balanced for this early age (but that might be caused by the cork).

11/4/20, 11:14 AM - Do you think it is a cork problem or could it be a storage/transportation issue? I also have some bottles of 2015 in the cellar. Guess I should better check on them. Thanks for reporting on such leakage issues. Sometimes that is very helpful information.

11/4/20, 1:39 PM - Must be a problem with the cork of - at least - my bottles of this vintage. The 2012 vintage (which is stored close nearby) does not have any of this issues. They just rest there already for more years. This is a first time for us.
The room/cellar is additionally air-conditioned over summer since 2018 because of heat peaks (no we do not have a global warming issue... haha). I've kept this cork and one thing that is awkward, you can not only see but feel the spill line via touch. Like somebody had carved along the cork from end to end. Definitely a production issue. Better have a good look on yours, I removed all caps and 75% of ours had already red wine residue under the cap. There's always a first time obviously :)
