December 1, 2008 - I noticed a very pleasant smell upon popping the cork….It reminded me of light vanilla cream with berry’s and perhaps plum….(berries and cream).
First tasted without decanting…how pleasant….a balanced fruit flavor, smooth on the back of my tongue….ever so slight alcohol taste at the end but I guess that’s what happens if you do not decant. Definitely much better than Dominus or the Bordeax’s I have tried…No oaky flavor that I can detect….1 ½ hours later –still some alcohol taste to it…it did not seem to subside much….still I really enjoyed it….still not what I am looking for to stock up on but I would definitely like to try this again in 2 and 4 years…I will be buying about one case of it..I was pleased with this wine but it would have been much better with red meat, not pasta like we had…..My wife said it was too strong…strange to hear that…I was disappointed to hear her say that about such a wine…curious to hear her thoughts 2 years from now. I think it needs more time. I give it a 93 – 94 for now..
