February 19, 2021 - Decanted for an hour but it needed more. Very dark and indeed ‘brooding’ as the label declares. Dense, but rich nose of coffee, cacao and blackberry. Less engaging on the palate as it’s just so heavy but it does have a hint of pepper and mocha. Not as well rounded as the 2012 but if the body catches up with the nose in a few years, this will be wonderful.

2/20/21, 4:27 PM - Totally agree! 'Brooding' is putting it gently - this is still a monster of a wine that badly needs more time in bottle. Excited for what this will be come down the road....but I'm thinking more like 5 to 8+ more years before I check back in.
