July 8, 2021 - My second underwhelming bottle of this. Worried that I may have to dump the rest.

7/9/21, 4:09 AM - I recommend that you put it away and forget it for 10 years. I drank an underwhelming bottle of 1994 '904' recently.....these are just 'old school' wines which need more patience than our current generation has time for.

7/9/21, 6:05 AM - I agree with Goldstone and would add that the wines from this producer often need extensive breathing in a decanter…several hours at least. They are indeed very “old school” not intended for “quick drinking”…I find the ones from the 1980’s just starting to be in their prime drinking window.

    Cheers!

p.s. If you really want to dump them, let me know…I’d buy them from you. This happens to be my wedding anniversary vintage, be happy to have more in addition to the magnum I have and intend to keep as long as I can still enjoy it with my wife.

7/9/21, 11:18 AM - Thanks for all the comments. I have some Gran Reservas from the 80s and 90s that I enjoy a lot. Maybe I wasn’t fair to this one by drinking it so soon even though it was a ‘regular’ reserva. I’ll wait another several years before trying t one again.
