August 3, 2021 - Well what a turn up for the books and the cause of much frustration for Yodamark who just cannot win a pinot challenge with Grandpa Greg.. since releasing Yodamarks theory of inverted Pinots with the 2009 YY PN, along comes this 2011 YY Pinot from a lesser vintage in the Yarra Valley compared to closer years. This wine was the antithesis of the 1999 Boillot Volnay. This was a limpid brick red with translucent edge, quite see through. Extremely light bodied and feminine in the mouth like gentle liquid silk gliding down . Nose had hints of ripe strawberry, red currants, a little jam, some cranberry. Palate was similar fruit profile and just an extremely elegant, gentle velvety wine that just caressed you like a massage from a..... nevermind.
Not a wine i would have targeted at auction and absolutely in its prime and ready to go, no need to age further (unlike the Boillot) and therefore unlikely to have to endure an episode of Invertedness!!!!!
Yummy yummy stuff and caused my Boillot to finish second against it by a smidgen and allow Grandpa Greg to take a commanding 3-0 lead. Grrrrrr. Game on
