If not perhaps with the elegance of the 53s or the amazing structure of the 59s, the 55s provide a classical amalgam of “classic claret.” And this example of the 1955 Lynch-Bages is no slouch, with a nose brimming with wild raspberry, alpine strawberry, warm cedar, grilled chestnuts, sous-bois, and eventually a very welcome eucalyptus accent - all conveyed in a package true to form, balancing heft and deft.
