October 24, 2021 - Having being blown away by the 54 Treasure CHest some time back, along came this little number to join the 34 Pommard and score another easy 100/100.. From Yodamarks cellar ( mid high shoulder fill) and from the get go it was just sensational. Lovely brick red with gentle crimson centre masking its age and completely unlike the colour of the 54 Treasure Chest which was murky brown. The nose was laden with red coonawarra wet soil, chocolate, dark berries, some VA, a gentle waft of oriental spices and mixed nuts along with the most beautiful peppermint undertone. Just something you could smell all day. Again and like the 54 these are Shiraz's not Cabernets but we move on. The palate was equally fat, long rich and laden with dark decaying red fruit, some spirity lift and chocolate. Just an ETHEREAL work of art. Impossible to decide which glass you picked up and drank against the 34 Pommard so basically I had both hands full with glasses of wine. Which kept my hands busy from doing anything else and given how good these were it had crossed my mind....
Again a wine i would unlikely repeat as so hard to get but another show stopper rendering us speechless..
