November 16, 2021 - Well done young Sam. First boys dinner and bought a birth year wine from his cellar. It was my WOTN and suspect WOTN of many others. And boy was it a cracker. better than last bottle i had ( 97 pts) . Nothing unexpected here as the Helbig is the best of the best of all SVS made by Rockford. This bottle was simply stunning. Sometimes i find the SVS still too raw and not ready but this is approaching a superb 25+ year window which will offer extreme excitement. one of the best 99 Barossa Shiraz ever. Will hose a 99 Grange.
Very rare at auction compared to the other SVS and worth every cent if you can find it. I only have 1 bottle.. Incredible depth of fruit and sweet Barossa rockford style overlaid charm. Blackberry, blueberry, black pepper, chocolate, wet black earth, spices and multi level nuances all over it. Big tannin and Acid holding it all back but not one iota of unbalance. simply unreal.
