February 14, 2009 - Valentine's meal with short ribs and root vegetable compote over potatoes. This is the first bottle of my allocation. Bright red with minimal signs of thinning color on the edges. Massive nose of oak, cola, black cherry, boysenberry, marmelade, bubble gum, and peppercorn with alcohol esters on the high notes. Essence of mashed fruit. Cherry velvet caresses the palate enveloped in a glyceric capsule. Finish is long and strong. I think the alcohol is hidden well....fruit holding strong and pumping through the 45 second finish. Imbibers who have stored theirs well will enjoy this bold and rambunctious tour de force in winemaking to be sure.
