Community Tasting Note

  • Decanting Queen Likes this wine:

    March 30, 2022 - Same score as 7/19 and 7/20. (94)
Double decanted for about an hour before bringing to a friend’s house where it was enjoyed by all. Intense plum and tobacco on the nose, the palate is still delicious but starting to fade relative to the intensity of the nose. Still an excellent wine, unlikely to improve but no rush to drink

3/31/22, 4:44 PM - Nice note Jennifer! I still think you score all bottles, especially wines this old, as quite often there can be bottle variation! Glad this one didn't disappoint! Also, you are much braver than I....I think I would been scared to give it such a long decant! I do have a few 98 Trotanoys though....maybe I will give it a try (I always assumed older Bordeaux performed well with a slo-O and time in the glass!)

4/1/22, 1:56 AM - This was a much shorter decant than my previous bottles. That said—it would be fine anytime between 1 and 6 hours decant time (as in, I don’t think it will die if you forgot about it)
As far as scores, that’s why I indicate my previous reviews so anyone who is interested in bottle variation will know exactly how I scored it without too much effort.
