September 10, 2021 - Domaine Jean-Marc Brun (aka Jean-Philippe Marchand,) Aux Échalles, Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, 2019: Deep ruby towards purple. The nose is redolent, with ripe blackberries, followed by raspberries and cherries, dried violets, smoke, and grilled mushrooms. Medium to full-bodied, nice concentration, with ripe and juicy black and red berries, earthy minerals, savory mushrooms, graphite and smoked meat, medium acidity, with notes of earth and soy sauce, powdery tannins on the long and plush finish. Rather exuberant for the appellation, this is delicious now with some decanting and should evolve nicely over the coming decade. 12.5% Abv. Drink 2024-2032. 91-92
