Pale gold straw. Delicate nose. Took a while to open….Then lovely delicate fruit with a some oak (not too much) and a spine of acid. Long and linear for a base bourgogne. Impressive.

Just a touch more fresh than the chianti Classico which I preferred but still a very interesting wine with a little more tannins compared to the Chianti classico. So may age better.

Golden yellow of regal beauty, on the nose it opens with pineapple and melon, followed immediately by notes of white fruits such as peach and apple. Hints of cinnamon and sage add an extremely elegant touch to the aromatic profile. On the palate, it is smooth with a freshness that envelops the entire mouth, making the drinking experience extremely cheerful and dynamic.

Tightly bound, somewhat reframed. Dark fruited with a black liquorice backbone, supported by a medium weight and very very fine and light, slightly dusty tannins. Tough one to call, other than needs time to open up. Have often though SC is one of the MV grenache makers where the fruit profile can handle a bit of age without becoming a bit same same.

Light body, bright golden colour. Elegant orchard fruits and grassy aroma. Green apples, pears and citrus zest palate following by refreshing acidity and vibrant finish. Very enjoyable wine. Food friendly, well paring with salmon sashimi. Serve 10ºC - 12ºC. Open half an hour ahead. Drink now.

{screwcap, 14.8%} As virulent a ruby/purple as I've ever seen from a wine not still in oak! Fresh but rustic aromas; earth, tobacco, tractor tyres. Like a bleld of wild malbec and carmenere gone feral. Some weird red berry aromas and flavours, but almost animal-like. Initially spritzy, but this blew off with time. Medium/high acid, fine dusty tannins, medium weight, and medium length although it seems to sit on the front and back palates with a hole in the middle. Ticks all the rustic boxes, that's for sure. Think it better young, I must say. Fine peasant wine for a weeknight.

Bright strawberry, cranberry, stewed rhubarb, fresh raspberries. Bright pure beam of fruit on the palate, very precise and mouthwatering. This wine is very fresh and light on it feet, but still with amazing depth of flavour, and a long finish.

Light mousse, nice yellow color. Nose mostly lemony, with some vanilla and yeast. Nice acidity, balanced citrus fruit, some herbal notes, nice mousse and brioche notes, medium-long ending with pleasant oaky notes. A good Champagne, balanced and elegant if maybe a bit thin. Definitely enjoyable and appropriate for a Kaiseki dinner at 3 Michelin Stars restaurant TAIAN in Osaka.

A l'aveugle? Jamais. Autant au nez qu'à la bouche! Selon lui, pointe d'amertume.

Ouvrira-t-il ce 2018 bu fin mai 2024?
Impossible!

PS. Merci WS, depuis 3 bouteilles, vos recommandations font maintenant partie des à proscrire. Je m'auto-proclame MWR

In the glass, it presents a dark ruby red color with bright reflections. The aromatic profile is characterized by fragrant aromas of small dark berries, blueberry, black currant, cherry, delicately spiced hints, and notes of aromatic herbs from the Mediterranean scrub. The sip is broad and enveloping, with a remarkable aromatic complexity, leading to a long and very persistent finish.

Excellent presence on the nose, with the fruit of Pinot Noir prominently displayed. The absence of dosage preserves the integrity of its warm and full-bodied terroir. On the palate, it has good structure and remarkable length of flavor.

Brought to Primeur restaurant in Stoke Newington. Cheesy style champagne, lemon curd with some sea shells. This is delicious as it warms up and becomes more wine than fizz. Out of the PG Special Club range, I find this the most ready to go compared to the Oger or Cramant.

A fruit driven nose and palate. Fresh, linear and leathery with a touch of sweet floral note, sage and pine fragrance. Good length and power in the medium-bodied structure. Tannins are grippy but ripe, providing the much needed support to balance the rich fruit and acidity. Ready to drink now and for the next 3-5 years.

Light ruby in the glass. Peppery notes in the nose with some oaky flair. Nice acidity, round and fresh, with cherries and blackberries on the palate, pepper, coffee beans, medium+ tannins. Quite straightforward with a pleasantly oaky ending. Went great with Pizza al prosciutto e rucola. Unpretentious but good.

Straw yellow color with beautiful golden reflections, fresh and lively on the nose, with a straightforward attack on the palate, and above all, finesse and richness of aromas thanks to the mineral extraction from old vines (selection of vineyards over 45 years old). On the palate, it is pleasantly full-bodied, with aromas of dried fruits, pineapple, and white-fleshed fruit that provide excellent depth. The floral aspect is also present.

Didn't hold out much hope for this to be anything but a nice and easy "luncheon" wine. However it's delicious. Light red berries with great acid profile, refined mouth feel and dangerously drinkable. Ready to go now, in my opinion. Has made me reassess my opinion of some of Nicolas' wines.

Consistent with previous note. Flinty and sharp with ripe fruit on the palate, backed up with sharp acidity. It still showed the vintage ripeness but the reductive wine-making style lifted up the fruit. Very good.

In the glass, it presents a ruby red color with garnet reflections. The bouquet expresses light floral scents of wilted violet, aromas of small berries, hints of licorice root, and spices. On the palate, it has a medium structure, with refined aromas, a tannic texture well integrated with the body of the wine, and a finish with fresh and savory notes. At this point, I would say it is already towards the end of its ideal drinking phase, yet still of excellent elegance.

Popped and poured. Still very young and primary in appearance; opaque black-ruby with broad tears. Still a youngster, though I am beginning to question whether there is enough stuffing to overcome the acidity and stiff tannins. Brushy, autumn leaves, and waxy faint florals show in the nose. Blackberry fruit in the mouth is somewhat overcome by hard edges, oak, and rusticity. Somewhat bitter finish. Fairly charmless now … and maybe forever? Time will tell. 5-11–10-6: 82/100.

Light-medium ruby colour looks a bit Pinot-esque in the glass.
Red currants and tart plum with some peppery and earthy spice. There's a rustic, slightly dusty savouriness that gives the wine an Italian feel, which might seem a bit odd for a French varietal made in Australia but that's the vibe I'm getting ??
Soft tannins but good acidity. Surprisingly light and elegant for a) McLaren Vale and b) its 14.5%, hides the alcohol well.
Always interesting to try the minority Bordeaux grapes on their own and this isn't bad but probably shows why it's usually blended as it's lacking a bit of power and intensity.
