What a pleasure to enjoy. Such a rare gem from Margaret River. A breath of fresh air in the cookie cutter wine industry today. Too many notes to count, but baking spices predominate after an hour

Closed delicate nose of white flower, light citrus and stone. Balanced on taste with a delicate long finish. Very elegant and refined. Nice mineral spine.

What a wonderful wine. Texturally, the tannins are velvety. The palate is enjoyable now but you can just tell this will continue to exude more and more expression in the years to come. Yum.

Nose is very soft spoken with raspberry notes Oak influence on the nose as well. On da palate u get nice complexity with oak influence as well. Fruit isn’t overpowering an they has some density to it. Probably would be better with food I didn’t give it much time to open. Pop in pour.

Interesting nose of black currants, black cherries, cedar, toasted French oak, vanilla and mint. Medium-bodied, this is lithe and just glides across the palate as the tannin has completely resolved. There's sour cherry, black and red currants, scorched earth and burnt wood on the palate. The nose is fantastic, the palate is a bit past its prime. Drink now. 90

Pale straw. Lemon pith and brioche on the nose. Scant fine mousse.
In the mouth, rich and musky pear and melon. Structured and rich mouthfeel. I'm not quite sure how to put my finger on what I don't like about this... it's too rich and dense almost?

Decanted. Now 30 min after decant. Somewhat shy but nice, elegant aromas of just ripe gala and tart apples, hints of flowers, some spices and hints of minerals. Palate with some minerals, herbs, and a hint of fruit. Medium body with excellent acids. Nice minerals on the mid palate. Moderately long finish of tart apples , minerals and a hint of herbs. I can't quite get a read on this wine. I think this is young, but I also think that a little bit of residual sugar would really lift and add balance to the wine. There's not that much complexity. I'm not sure if that's because this wine is young or if the material is just not quite there. I wish I had another bottle to see where this would be in about 5 years. For now, this is a fairly straightforward, somewhat simple riesling that definitely leans on the austere side.

Yes, it is a substandard Total Wine direct import. Hopefully people are not tricked that this is not Dubœf. I thought this was light, simple, and quaffable. Better than I expected from their overpriced and then discounted direct imports.

Graphite, apple peel, cherry. Nice notes on the nose and the palate, but seems like it hasn't quite come together yet--a bit disjointed. Maybe it needs a bit more time, or maybe it's just not for me.

Absolutely delicious, with very fine bubbles and a lovely rounded mouthfeel. Paired with pineapple cashew veggie bacon pizza and an arugula salad it's delightful.

This was presented in a blind tasting of some high-end Champagnes:

1. NV Ulysse Collin Blanc de Blanc Enfers (Extra Brut)
2. 2015 Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill
3. 2015 Cristal
4. 2012 Leclerc Briant Château d'Avize, Blanc de Blancs, Brut Zéro
5. NV Selosse Lieux-dits Extra Brut Ay La Côte Faron
6. 2007 Billecart-Salmon Cuvée Elisabeth
7. NV Selosse V.O.

NV Selosse Ay La Cote Faron - Oxidative style that screamed Selosse. Very dark in color though that gave me pause. This wine was very interesting and kept gaining complexity. Went remarkably well with the caviar! The reveal showed Blanc de Noir, which explained a lot! Delicious! 96-96+

Note: I typically love a non-oxidative style more than the oxidative style when drinking them without food, but with salty foods (think caviar), I actually preferred the oxidative style which went remarkably well with the food!

Opened for a full day but recorded after opening. Experiment. Didn’t pour any the first day.softer Red fruits but also a bit of tartiness Lil bit weird on the palate. A bit aggressive Not smooth. But once again this received minimal air. Not as well of a showing to my prior bottle but once again gave this bottle up for experimentation. I won’t rate this time.

First taste was a bit pruney and I was afraid it was bricked but an hour open and it went away and a great combination of fruit, spices (pepper and cinnamon?) and super integrated silky tannin’s appeared. Delicious.

Dark with a nice touch of austerity to balance the ripe fruit.

Serious stuff

This pours medium ruby in the glass with light bricking. The nose is drop and rich, classically Cote Rotie showing blueberry, violets, crushed slate, black pepper, and smoked meat. The palate enters on blueberry fruit with medium tannin and medium plus acid, keep this fresh and lively. The finish is moderate in length.

This pours medium to light ruby in the glass with light bricking. The nose is aromatic and enjoyable but not terribly deep or complex showing red cherry, cranberry, leather, a kiss or black olive and a faint whisp of dried orange peel. The palate is bright, light and acidic with a cranberry entry turning to medium tannin and high acid. The finish is moderate in length.

A different profile than earlier vintages. Much more ripe, juicy and fruit forward. Dark ruby/purple color. More fruit forward aromas and flavors of dark cherry, raspberry, vanilla, fresh herbs, tobacco, graphite and a slight hint of pine needles. Touch of black licorice on the long and lingering finish. Soft tannins. Very deep and complex. Consistently great mountain red.

Love this wine. The 2016 is stellar. Not many left bank options as Merlot dominant. Approachable and structured. Spot on right now. Read about their farming practices as well, a model to be followed.

Dark ruby in the glass. Nose shows some alcohol but also lots of cassis and bramble, with a touch of aromatic wood. Medium+ acidity, then cassis, blueberries, cherries, some plums - fruit is very refined, expressive, and precise. Cocoa, some pencil shavings, grippy tannins even after 2 hours decant, and long, lingering, cherry-filled finish.
This is an intense, young, very enjoyable wine already. Still quite primary, but elements are integrating very well. Decant a couple of hours and you are good to go. Very Margaux in its refined elegance. 94 now, but likely 96+ in 5-6 years.

Pnp. Pours pale canary yellow. Very clean and clear. Golden delicious apple, lanolin amd yellow plum on the nose. Maybe a touch of unripe apricot as well. Off dry, clean fruit, good acidity and no apparent alcohol or oak present. No spritz either. More golden delicious apple (almost like a hard cider), yellow plum a touch of lanolin and a bit of green herbs on the palate. Finishes clean, freah and yellowy fleshy fruity. Nice indeed!

What a difference with air time!!
First blush.. very muted..:.
After 2 hours it blooms!!
Deepest of inky purple
Nose is plum..brambly raspberry,oak
Somewhat thick unctious body packed with blackberry
Raspberry oak flavors with sturdy tannins and modicum of acidity… not quite all together yet but
darn is it a flavor packed extravaganza
It’s a powerhouse of flavor which may not be to everyone’s liking… nothing subtle here
QPR off the charts if you like the style which I do

Cherry, Strawberry, toasted oak, chocolate, a faint smell of grape tootsie roll pop.

Not a bad attempt at a bordeaux style blend (with the addition of Zinfandel) but a little over priced.

Would benefit from decanting and ageing. Goes well with red meat.

Medium-deep reddish garnet in color. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of red cherries, boysenberries & raspberries with overtones of dusty/earthy & spice notes of cloves & cinnamon, some floral notes of roses, cola, minerals & a slight hint of oak/vanilla. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of red cherries, mulberries & cranberries with spices, minerals & a hint of oak/vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present but should develop further with additional aging.

3. 2015 Cristal
4. 2012 Leclerc Briant Château d'Avize, Blanc de Blancs, Brut Zéro

6. 2007 Billecart-Salmon Cuvée Elisabeth
7. NV Selosse V.O.

2012 Leclerc Briant Chateau d'Avize Brut Zero - This is on the oxidative side of the spectrum. Loads of citrus, tart apple and minerality. Blind I thought maybe one of the Selosse Champagnes. First time tasting and I was pleasantly surprised on the reveal. 94+ to 95 and very enjoyable!

Note: I typically love a non-oxidative style more than the oxidative style when drinking them without food, but with salty foods (think caviar), I actually preferred the oxidative style which went remarkably well with the food!

Past it’s prime but still had a bit of life left. A good amount of acid and minerality though mostly plum notes and stewed fruits. A good amount of length. This was beautiful five years ago.
