This came together about 30min after opening. Noticeable acidity but balanced out by almost sweet dried fruit flavors. This was complex and while showing some age I think could go several more years.

I enjoyed this with some deli-meats and cheese before dinner.

Enjoyable, but potentially slightly past its prime. The 2011 we had the other night was INCREDIBLE.

bottle open 12 hours prior.
Nice vivid colour, very clean. Nose is still quite alive, marked by a leather dominant, slowly leading way to cherry in alcohol, with spices like nutmeg and paper. The mouth is sustained by a nice acidity, present, but not invasive, giving way to an interesting persistence. Surprising how these older Cirò tend to age like Nebbiolo. This bottle was not labelled as Superiore. don't think it existed at the time.

Delicious. Absolutely ready to drink. Nice mix of primary fruit, secondary and tertiary flavours. Wonderful balance. Improved a lot with air and was perfectly poised after 2h in decanter. A bit tight on opening.

Well done. Big, dark, oakey, with a bite. A lot on the palate, but enjoyable. Good clearance deal at ten bucks.

Heidi's Gang monthly @ StG. CV,KB,DD,LI & CS. Thanks for organizing Siggy! My btl tonight. Gave this an hour plus decant followed by another hour+ slow-ox after arrival at St Gennieve Minneapolis. This was magnificent tonight & my WOTN amongst several rock star btls from Champagne, Burgundy & BDX. At 12 years out from release this is drinking wonderfully already. No doubt there's room for more tertiary evolution with another 5+ years in the cellar but stellar and worth opening one now if you have these. Fabulous in my Burg glass tonight w/ suave deep raspberry, mineral, earth & meat on an ultra-balanced, intense & concentrated palate. The nose was glorious w/ vineyard fresh dark berries, rose petal & emerging forest floor. Hope every wine lover gets a chance to experience the majesty of Chambertin in the hands a Burg master like Domaine Trapet. I'm very lucky to own a few! Prices unfortunately, are on the rise here. The producer was largely under the radar when I started buying them.

Hugely enjoyable. Fruity, buttery, well balanced. Wet stone on the nose. Simple but excellent. Great for summer.

AP #4, which I think makes this Onkel Peter, even though Falkenstein hadn't yet started including the site names on the labels yet. Juicy, light, zippy, hardly any feel of extract but a good intensity of tart fruit. Noticeable sugar, seems a bit more Kabinetty than Feinharby. Better on Day 1 than Day 2. I don't see this being a long ager due to the lack of density. Paired nicely with asparagus soup.

Well balanced and has aged well. Medium to dark red ruby color. Decent fruit for a 12 year old bottle. Finish was about 25 seconds, with red fruits and light spices coming through. Very enjoyable

Delightful! Fruit forward, light-bodied, served with slight chill, this was a crowd-pleaser. A welcome change to ubiquitous Pinot Noirs.

Heidi's Gang monthly @ StG. CV,KB,DD,LI & CS. Thanks for organizing Siggy & brining this! In the same flight w/ my '12 J&L Trapet Chambertin. Having recently enjoyed a mesmerizing '09 Echez Siggy brought last month, expectations were through the roof for his follow up GE tonight! And while this delivered some oohs & aah moments it was bit reluctant to put all its cards on the table. But it definitely had its moments! The fruit was pristine and the legendary DRC whole cluster elements were something to behold. Really fun flight. My '12 Chambertin while youthful was eager to please w/ its wonderful classic Burgundy flavors & aromas. Advantage Trapet Chambertin tonight!

Crimson in color. 14.3% ABV. Breathtaking nose of black fruits, Whitman Sampler box, scorched earth and violets. Exceptionally plush, silky and concentrated. Impeccably balanced. Blackberry liqueur, creme de cassis, cocoa and black currants on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. Stunning wine that exceeded my lofty expectations. Close to perfection. I'll open my last bottle in 2028.

No info except L27129 embossed on the label.

My second wine from this family grower, and, at ~US$23, I think the cheapest champagne I have ever drunk.

And, sadly, it's over-priced. It claims to be "extra-brut" but it must be at the very top of that range. There's some honey on the nose. The palate is extraordinarily thin. Almost no acidity. Very little fruit. Blind I wouldn't even be sure this is champagne.

It's not bad or offensive, it just has absolutely nothing to commend it.

My second Domaine du Clos des Poulettes wine, and no different than the first. The 2019 has a sour cherry flavor, and only a bit a tannin. It could use a bit of cellaring, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it getting much better. Is it worth $75 a bottle? No sir!

Popped and poured. Lovely Ruby color with aromas of dark cherry, a bit of spice, and dried herb. Beautiful, integrated flavors of cherry, and a slight tobacco finish when paired with a short rib. Nicely made wine and a pleasure to drink right now with some super intense acidity , which I love. Fine to drink now, but I’m waiting a few more years to open another bottle. Long life ahead! Wonderful Wine.

This was one of the best bottles of wine I've had for a long time....decanted for three hours it offers a multitude of red fruit, spice, and floral aromas and doesn't disappoint on the palate. If I was being picky it didn't quite have the weight and punch on the finish that I was expecting, but that is a personal preference. I suspect it will develop further with age but there was nothing tannic in the taste profile so there's no reason not to open one of these now.

One hour decant. Very very deep magenta color. Charred beignets, vanilla caramel, and black cherry. Smooth, dry palate. Full tannins on the medium long+ finish.

Had with pot roast and the flavors seemed to clash a bit so it was hard to judge... but yeah, I think this is ready to go. It seems more red fruit driven than in past vintages, perhaps because I see no Petite Sirah in the blend.

Heidi's Gang monthly @ StG. CV,KB,DD,LI & CS. Thanks for organizing Siggy! Kevin's btl. Well, I was taken by this vintage in a Jan 2017 btl, but even more so tonight. Both Kevin's Btls, from same source. The robust nose was like sitting in small room with more than one cigar smoker. I've never smoked a cigar or cigarette in my life, but I do dig the cigar ash I often find on great LMHBs like this! I almost cringe when someone tells me "I don't get BDX"??? Especially, if they've had a chance to drink BDX w/ 25yrs plus on them. They need a g e! This is going strong but also nicely resolved & elegant. Complex layers of; dark fruit, herbs, tobacco, cedar & other harmonics. I have to give Kevin credit for his reliable prep of everything he brings. Sometimes I read notes on CT and wonder, "did you give this the air it deserves?" Prep can make a huge difference in the experience. For me, kind of a tie between this and my '12 J&L Trapet Chambertin tonight. My wife loves salt while I love pepper. Kevin leans BDX & I lean Burgundy but both regions produce amazing wines! Thanks Kevin!

Antonio's , Minami Aoyama, Tokyo. Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi. As far from a typical verdicchio as I could imagine. This is an orange wine as the back-label confirms this sees extended skin-contact. It is a very dry and matte package with great energy. Praline on the quite complex nose. This can make for very intersting food pairings with stronger falvoured seafood for example.

This appealing offering features distinctive sense of place and puts the mind to ripe vintage, serious quality Burgundy, particularly Côte de Beaune. Lively perfume, excellent, bordering on exceptional concentration and structure. Highly enjoyable now, yet better in three to five years. Improvement seems possible, even likely 93-94.

This is bigger and bolder than the standard Boscarelli VDN. The color is darker, richer, slightly overripe with silky smooth round tannins. While I prefer the standard bottling because it is more true to its Sangiovese roots, I still enjoyed this wine. It paired nicely with a veal chop and risotto

Final of 6 bottles, had most recently about 1.5 yrs ago.
This is a light bodied, full flavored, quite bright wine that is nearing the end of optimal drinkability.
Flavors of black cherry liqueur, espresso grounds, mint, and smoky burnt notes.
There is refreshing acidity, which brightens up the otherwise dark flavors.
Finishes with earthiness and herbality, drink up.

14% alcohol. Good cork of average length. Light translucent colour.
Very lively nose of sour cherry with a raisiny note. Significantly behind in the mouth because the acidity protrudes way too much; some bitterness in the aftertaste too. On the positive side there is some elegance here.
Not for me because of the pervasive acidity, the kind that you feel in your stomach. The pairing with fettuccine al ragu was not the expected success, but the wine is even less palatable on its own.
PS: I see that I liked the last bottle significantly better, so maybe today was an off day.
