It smells a little green; as if it's going to be a little hard on the palate. Lean but not in a nice way, if that makes sense, with time a little candied notes. On the palate, though, that hard bitterness is there. Not very nice for me.

4/12, vg cork. Decanted and immediately served.
Medium/deep ruby core, pale ruby rim. Aromatic, blackberry fruit, meaty notes, black olive, mineral notes. Medium bodied, black fruit, black olive, touch of mulch, fine tannins, this is actually quite fine boned with vibrant acidity carrying a good length finish. Now and next 5 years or so.

Medium minus intensity aromas of lemon sherbet, a little wet stone, sweet spice, touch of creaminess. In the mouth it's softly juicy, lemon curd, textured burr, simple, easy, charming.

Dichtes, brillantes Rubin.

Tag 2 - heute deutlich ziviler. 95

I expected a bit more but ultimately, this wine was fine. A bit more acid than I am used to with 2010…took some time to settle. When it did, it was an enjoyable village wine but no fireworks by any means. I’ve never really found a lieu dit village wine any better/worse than a general village level wine. Didn’t scream vosne romanee either. I’m generally a big 2010 fan but this one didn’t blow me away.

Couleur or pale.

A blend of 40 percent pinot noir, 40 percent meunier, and 20 percent chardonnay. Forty percent of the blend is reserve wine, which is stored in a perpetual cuvee that dates back to 1982 (based on 2017 and disgorged in 12/2021). Pretty much accessible and inviting wine but not lacking its distinctive personality. Dominant dark red fruit notes supported by an earthy and savory atmosphere. Good length and precision. Not showy but focused and harmonious.

no disgorgement marked but purchased in autumn of 2019. density of a lighter red wine, small mousse and only trace persisting bead. nose showing mushrooms and sous bois. light bodied with medium plus acidity, smooth yet lively mouthfeel. ebullient plum and pomegranate flavors with a rich dose of malty chocolate. once again i find the augustin wine to be absolutely unique in it’s flavor and expression. a delicious and memorable treat.

A dull, but perfectly drinkable, sparkling rosé. Just the faintest suggestion of red berry character on the nose. Palate is slick and inoffensive - lean, bone-dry, but with its acidity held well in check and a welcome touch of fruit character underneath.

A whiff of butterscotch immediately after opening...but not in the Cali Chard sense. Very elegant and silky, yet with good Chablis cut and acidity. Lemon, saline, white flowers, and some tropical notes. As other have noted, this is wonderful now, but will drink well for many years yet. Easily 92-93.

Flinty, mineral aromas offer a wonderful expression of terroir in this wine. On the palate, a generous sweetness is balanced by a keen lemony acidity that finishes with a slight hint of salinity.

Slight funk and astringency after pulling the cork. After a couple hours of decanting both dissipated. Enjoyable palate with notes of red cherries, blackberries, elderberries, rosehip, coffee, dark chocolate and soil. Not much depth nor complexity, just an enjoyable wine with good balance and secondary flavour profile with some development towards more tertiary notes

There is nothing wrong with this wine, it is good and well crafted. It is just that the style is a bit too modern for my personal taste to score this higher. I would certainly have scored this higher a few years ago

Full bodied, mineral with med+ acidity. Bit of honeywax peeking through but I think it lacks a bit on the fruitside of things. Definitely calls for food and did well on a typical Greek meaty meal

The wine was rich and ripe with a slightly exotic nose full of tropical sensation, hazelnuts and spice. The acidity level was moderate, which clearly showed the vintage character. It is drinking well now. No need to wait. 91-92

Nose of oaky sawdust, pecans, walnuts, caramelized notes, orange zest, and dried cranberries. Quite a bit more sawdust on the palate, followed by nutty notes, followed by more sawdust and vanilla. The acidity is sharp, and really lingers, and the finish brings out walnut verging on hazelnut.

Shy at first, some nutty almond and sourdough type notes. The palate is much more expressive, with white peach, rhubarb, and apricot, actually pretty short on red fruit, with maybe a little baked strawberry. I’m getting more notes, lemon, marmalade, maybe even Fuji apple. Looked it up, whoa, it’s a red-white blend. Now that makes sense why I’m getting so many more aromas I associate with white wines, and in particular Viura. Huh. It’s also shockingly high-alcohol for a rose at 13.5, and you can taste a bit of burn. Rustic, for sure, but I opened a bottle with pollo al ajillo on a Thursday night, which is what this calls for.

A wine that splits the difference between the more familiar, fruity Zinfandels of California and some wilder and more experimental contemporary approaches to winemaking. It’s pretty approachable – hey, it tastes like plums and cherry cordials and raspberry liqueur and baking spice, come on in! But there’s a little tartness, a little verve, that makes it quite interesting. I could see a beardo natural-wine snob and a Kendall-Jackson wine mom, against all odds, finding true love over a bottle of this. Blessed be their union.

My first foray into Naoussa. The nose promises tart red fruit, a bit Rhone-like, with some darker aromas lurking in the corners. And it is crunchy! Pomegranate in the lead, with even the tannins reminding me of crunching into pomegranate seeds, alongside a hefty savory dose of tomato sauce and oregano. What starts as generic black fruit grows and develops into black olive and to a lesser extent black cherry. Man I’m getting hungry. More complexity emerges – star anise, Chinese five spice, purple flowers. It might be an obscure region outside Greece, but any Cotes du Rhone or Chianti fan would love this, and this would absolutely be a worthy alternative for pasta night (or of course moussaka). More delicious with every sip.

Lemon, yellow apple, honey, and florals on the nose. Rich on the palate, with lavender, apricot, and a fair bit of residual sugar. Refreshing, flavorful Prosecco, strong bubbles, very much spring wedding vibes.

Nose: red flowers, red date, dried branches, black tea, hoisin sauce, blueberry, white rice
Notes: quite some bricking and the palate shows that the wine is probably near the end of the life. Although the nose still shows some elegance and complexity but I'd say it's tasting a little weak and light now thus would not have much point to cellar further. This should've been consumed years ago.

Popped and poured. A little musty out the gate. But after about 30 minutes it developed nicely. Still at its peak. Would drink now and likely has more life if well stored. I’d open and let breath for an hour in bottle.

Orange zest, banana, pineapple, bubblegum, and peach, quite aromatic (there’s that Muscat in the mix). Pleasant stonefruit flavor palate, with plenty of nice acidity and a limited funkiness, mostly coming in the form of those green banana type flavors. The finish reminds me a bit of a Belgian tripel, yeasty and slightly funky. Natural, but precise.

Nose: guava, mango, white flower, pear, banana, caramel
Notes: quite a light bodied and refreshing wine. Clearly still in its infancy but surely the 2022s are a lot more riper and balanced than the 2021s. As usual from this address the minerality is quite subtle but nice, making decent wines that are quite balanced. At least another 5 years until I would touch this wine again.

Similar to my tasting note back in October, this is a massive New World wine with concentrated black fruit, creme de cassis, bitter chocolate, espresso, and a creamy long fruit forward finish. Pair this next to something big and bold as your meal. Otherwise, it will overpower your food. PnP, did not decant.

~8hr decant. Gorgeous, staining ruby purple colour. Powerful nose of confected/syrupy black cherry and blackberry. Palate adds warm spices, anise and savoury black olive.
Loads of upside as it's still a bit aggressive and raw. Wait minimum 5years, probably 10.
