Base 2016, Continues to be one of the best Meunier based champagne. Guests who usually drink House Cuvées are regularly stunned what expressions Growers can extract from this region. TN: Beautiful nose jumping from the glass, with red fruit and spices, generous palate, chalky, low dosage finish. Charming and precise at the same time. 96+

Wine is nicely balanced, tannins have softened up and the wine is at it's peak for me.
However, the hints of unripe fruit, which is so typical for 2013 are well noticable. That won't go away.
White - Fortified
Complex and wonderful. Not overly sweet, perfectly balanced acidity and such layered aromas going from candied apple, barley sugar, walnuts to dried fruits. Wonderful to close out the night.

Bricoleur's Sauvignon Blanc keeps getting better and better. This vintage has lots of notes of lime, melon, passion fruit. Very lively wine that went well with grilled salmon.

My contribution, perfect cork. Even split among the table on whether this was new or old-world; tasted quite young so most guesses were late-2000s onwards. Rustic, cola notes on the nose, palate was well-balanced and elegant that nobody guessed Gevrey even when it was revealed to be a Burgundy. Well-integrated at this stage, possessing depth with age that I find only in Burgundies. Some autumnal, oxidative notes emerged after a few hours.

Golden-green in colour, a little kerosene and marmalade on the nose. Lime on the palette with lively acid balance and good length. Perhaps a tiny bit thin, but quite lovely overall.
Red
Dark berries, rosebuds, damp earth and slight licorice. Nice palate with mostly integrated dusty tannins, enough acidity to keep up with the ripe dark berries and a decent finish where the tannins show up a little. Not sure this has the bones for long aging but it's already drinking well. A tad ripe and smooth but still fresh and easy to drink.

By the glass. Young wine blending 50% Macabeo and 50% Chardonnay. A part of Chardonnay (?) ferments and remains for two months in French oak barrels. 12.5 ABV. Screw closure. On the nose it is quite simple with aromas of white fruit of pears and apples, medlars and exotic fruits. On the palate it shows a velvety texture typical of a medium-bodied wine and a very soft finish with an acidity that manifests until the end.

Very beautiful nose, full of finesse, with black fruit, leather, vanilla and medicinal herbs.

Delicacy on the palate with a velvety texture. There is a touch of tobacco that comes through, coated with still bright black fruit. The palate undoubtedly lacks depth or power compared to more recent editions, notably the magnificent 1995 or even the 1998 that I drank previously. But the fact remains that the wine is elegant, an unusual register among Rioja. Second part of the mouth on leather, around which a beautiful minty and vanilla finish surrounds.

Very good Rioja, sapid and pleasant, which does not look 30 years old.

Very nice hints of red fruit, dried fruit, spices and leather in the beginning, but wine got oxidated after half an hour or so.
So drink up now, and drink fast! :-D

Finished the rest of the bottle with a cigar then.

A dark brooding monster of black licorice, tar, eucalyptus and mint. Scorched earth as well. Turns truly majestic after a 4 hour decant: very refined and almost burgundy like. Immense potential, better in may be 10 years or even more.
An immense wine of true character and soul.

Started off with savoury and cola note which made me think that this was a Gevrey because I tasted my Damoy which was remarkably similar. After some time in the glass it became jammier and sweeter, agreed with someone who said that this was cool-climate new-world Pinot Noir from somewhere like Victoria. Well-balanced with kirsch and spice notes, but this felt older than its age.

This got opened a couple of nights ago thinking this was a white (gosh darn it was in the white section of the cellar!). I had a taste then and wasn't wowed at all. We revisited it last night and although it had fleshed out a little this was still not in my wheelhouse. Cranberry, griottes, slight earth and hints of dried herbs. Palate is pretty linear, plenty of acidity and the same tart red berries. Somewhat short finish. Rather simple Pinot Noir and easy to find something similar at a much cheaper price point.

A super exotical nose of lilies, may-lily, tropical fruit and slate. White peaches and citrus on the palate. Slightly less concentrated compared to Keller Kirchspiel but overall at the same quality level.

A real sensation, truly vinous but like nothing I’ve tasted before
N: smokey, balsamic sherry tone, warm strawberries, vanilla, dessicated fruit and figs
P: same as nose plus dried apricots
The finish is very long and although it is such a characterful wine it drinks surprisingly easy. We had charcuteries to go with it. Would love to try it with grilled pork.

If you’re sitting on a bottle drink it now.

This is a very typical and refined Keller I believe. The core of citrus fruit, tropical fruit, minerals, hints of flowers and a barely noticeable note of petrol. Deep, long finish and lots of dry extract. No signs of ageing at all.

Purple in color.

Light nose of red fruits.

Dry on the palate with mild complexity.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity.

Showing red currants, cranberries, pomegranates and dark chocolates.

Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and pomegranates.

A little unbalanced and better with food.

Aged for 1 year in large oak barrels.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

87 Points.

Clearly a Pinot-dominant champagne with the richness and ripe red fruit. Not the biggest fan of this cuvee, always seems too strict compared to the Blanc d’Argile.

Another Chardonnay where the oak stood out, guessed Puligny because of the powerful, linear citrus fruit. Not a producer that I am familiar with but impressive winemaking here.

Disclaimer: we sell this wine.
2019 vintage. 100% Chardonnay from Vertus. No dosage. 2 years on lees. Disgorged 29/11/2022. Sees some oak.
Nose true to the terroir: initially citrus and chalk but with time some slight smokey, roasted and nutty aromas also appear. Very nice palate with plenty of mineral freshness from front to finish but also nice concentration on the mid-palate. Good finish on chalk and enjoyable bitterness. Good wine.

From magnum. I thought only a Burgundy could withstand so much oak but when revealed to be a new-world I thought it was a producer stylistically similar to Kongsgaard. Impressively built but too creamy and large-scaled for me.

Savoury earthy note that I find common in Rhys, some candied cherry fruit emerged with more air. Bit one-dimensional compared to the other single vineyards.

Compared to the other Rhys Chards that I’ve had, this felt much leaner and marked by acidity. Apparently saw no new oak which made the citrus fruit seem austere, agree with a previous note that said this felt like Chablis but without the crispness. Overall, reticent and muted.

This one is all about the spice and berries. It’s exotic and unrefined and unapologetic. Light coloured but bags of flavour. Well balanced too - those strawberries and the sheet of tannin play off each other so well.

Incredible value, great drinking.

Always a lovely wine, especially for the price. Good acidity and silky mouthfeel, hints of blackcurrant. Food really brings out the spicy element - very nice! Some people think there are better Spanish garnacha wines out there, and there will be, but this one is good.

Medium yellow color. Ever slightly cloudy.

Scents of smoke, wax, and sun-dry, like dried hay or raisin. Fruit is citrus and green pear. Also, the fruit has some mature (or possibly oxidized) element such as dried pear. Salty and yeasty note in midpalate. Strong mineral and savory sensation. There is some grippy tannic texture from the skin contact. Finishes with exotic spices.

Medium body, medium plus acidity. Tannic texture adds interests.

Very exotic. One of a kind.

Ready to drink now. Much of the primary fruit has mellowed/receded, highlighting some tertiary notes, black tea (whole clusters?), Some vanillin and cedar from the oak, and the remnants of the dark cherries and dark plums that were probably more prominent when younger. Savory, elegant, exciting.

Opened 6 hours before dinner. The nose requires a bit of attention, it's rather shy but there is pear, lemon and a suggestion of stone fruit, on the palate it is more on the creamy side than I have expected but not on the heavy side with 12% vol., the finish is long with a salty aftertaste.

We enjoyed it though our food pairing was not ideal with the antipasti we had. Nevertheless, I will wait another couple of years with the next bottle as I think there will come more (91+).
