Big, fat and rich Chenin with tremendous character. It’s on green fruits, stone fruits and spices, layered with a creamy texture. 14,5% alc. a food wine and a wonderful one at that. At home with the boys.

Bought at the domaine when we visited Bonnigal-Bodet in January. Made with Alice Chidaine, the daughter of Francois Chidaine. Monopole, 4.900 bottles produced. Light yellow/greenish color. Really tight with notes of green apples, pear, citrus, salt. Backward and just showing a glimpse of the richness the Montlouis terror can offer. 12,5% alc. Put this away for three years at least, I’m pretty sure this will develop into something special.

Great blend. The petit Syrah brings a peppery taste that is complimented by the fruitiness of the rest of the blend. Decanted for ~ 1hr before drinking.

This wine hits all the marks; nose, palate, complexity, finish. Enjoyed a bottle at dinner with braised short ribs and my wife had duck with duck confit in Calistoga. Just happens to be at a restaurant two miles from the winery. We are fortunate enough to visit the Joseph Cellars cave this trip as well.

The wines are mostly direct to consumer. Just 2 restaurants in the locale offering their wines. Cheers 🍷❤️

Bought on release in 2007. Screw top. No ullage.

Profound, complete Chenin Blanc flavors, just shy of decadent; lively, dances on palate, superb depth and length. In an evening of some incredible red Burgundies, this was the wine of the night. Well stored bottles of this wine should last for decades.

Solid Cab. Age hasn’t really change the profile a lot. Has a sweet lean with dark stone fruit and hint of mineral/earth.

Tasted blind at monthly Winos tasting. Sound cork, had been purchased on release. [Supposed to be an all premier cru tasting, but well...].

Rich, complex, red and black fruit, lively, fresh earth and cherries. Granular attractive tannins, needs another 10-15 years, a mighty wine, I guessed accidental Grand Cru given its completeness. As others have said, despite being "too young" to drink, could be hard to keep your hands off this!!

Received 1 of 6 first place, and 2 of 6 second place votes in flight with 2011 Felettig Chambolle-Musigny Combottes (94 from me); 2002 Fred Magnien Chambolle-Musigny les Charmes (95+); 2016 Le Moine Chambolle-Musigny Les Haut Doix (93); and 2005 D. Laurent Clos de la Roche (94). The three Chambolles were wonderful. Wines were quite different but pretty much at the same level from a points awarded by me perspective. I voted for current pleasure in drinking and not future potential. By votes it was the Magnien, then a tie for the Felettig and the Laurent, and the le Moine last. All of these wines will cellar well for at least another decade and both the 2016 le Moine and the mighty 2005 Laurent Clos de la Roche need another 10-15 years.

Ruby color, neither plush nor thin. Punch of cherry and strawberry fruit that mellows across the palate. A little earthiness on the finish, and maybe a touch of the forest floor. Finish is bright, but not tart. Pretty much a text book of what CA Pinot was 20 years ago before everyone split into the restrained and powerful camps.

Good. Maybe my taste, I love the good Chinons, the Samur-Champigny, but this one is a little unbalanced to the alcohol side, less organic. On a brighter side, less sweet than most cab francs from the new world. Could be a 91 for people who enjoy this other style. Better or as good as many new world varietals like El Enemigo or Rutini.

Really solid Pinot that is at an optimal stage. Still bright and energetic, no signs of aging. I like this here, but I see no problem with this aging another 3-4 years. Strawberries dominate, but hints of violet, baking spices and vanilla bean.

Serious Pinot with depth, character and balance. Has settled in since my last bottle in January. The fruit is red and juicy, earthy marks underneath. Great purity as well. Wait a year of two for next hit. At home with the boys.

dark purple, deep colour. nose: very good intensity full of red and dark fruits. Blackberries, blueberries, red and black cherries, ripe strawberries. Robust, juicy still fresh. taste: medium (+) acidity; excellent density; black and red plums - ripe; blueberries, very ripe strawberries; good ripe tannins. Long finish with some sweet spice - cinnamon. Great value for money. Excellent wine anyway.

Tasted blind with monthly Winos group. Was one of my bottles so opened and decanted it 3 hours before we tried it. Sound cork, perfect fill.

Woof. More austere than the other wines right now. Torrefaction, Inky, very long, superb structure and tannins, but no where ready to drink. Was more open the next day despite the long decant.

Tasted blind with monthly Winos group, North Berkley bottling. Sound cork, no ullage.

Rich, complex, huge. Black fruits, blueberry ripeness, spectacular fruit. Forever on palate. My wine of the night for the reds we tried. Refutes the reputation F Magnien had for lightweight or soon-to-drink wines. If you see this in the secondary market and the bottle looks good, buy it.

dark purple colour with lighter rim; deep, clean, very good. nose: classic syrah aromas in one place (violets+black plums+black pepper) very linear and of a good intensity. taste: high acidity, sandy, polished tannins - excellent quality; fruit - black plums, blueberries, blackberries. Great intensity and depth. long finish with black pepper notes. Elegant, balanced. Its not easy to find such a good bottle in Corezes-Hermitage.

Lovely. Dark cherries & plums on the nose, with a bit of anise & dried vanilla on the nose. Nice fruit on the palate, carrying its age nicely as it's plum skin & still robust black cherries with good bits of anise, black currant, hint of graphite & vanilla. Still decent acid & tannic grip; wonderful with a rich Beef Wellington. Two left from a six pack and I'll probably give the next 3-4 years before I check back in.

Tasted blind with monthly Winos group. TS believes this bottle was a gift to him from JH, The Nicest Guy in the World and Burgundy expert.

Full, black and red fruits, totally awesome, unbelievable palate. For serious drinkers as it is not a "blow you away" wine but one to sip and sniff over time. Gorgeous nose, complex, still young. No one could believe this was a 2011. Another Wow Felettig wine. Stunning.

Small Claret Dinner (SW11): Creamier than the 1989 this is served with, some cinders and tobacco leaf complement the damson fruit core. There is a pepperiness here and the tannins are fully resolved. With air there is some bresaola, a few drops of Grenadine syrup. Some tomato flesh and hints of Turkish delight. Great stuff.

Pretty decent. I don't know if it is worth the price, but it is an enjoyable Aussie Cab with a good fruit-to-acid ratio. Tannins are there and noticeable and pleasant. I had a 2017 not too long ago, and it was better than this, and the QPR for it was pretty decent. Just not this one.

This was the wine with the highest alcohol (a whopping 14%), the highest extraction and the only one that felt like it was made in a factory. Whole-bunch fermentation + 12 months aging in wood and amphora. Deep ruby in the glass. Ripe nose of blackcurrant, sloshes of plum and blackberry, just tiny hints of black pepper. Full-bodied with ripe tannins and moderate acidity. Rather short finish. Not a remarkable wine in any sense.
