Really good value from Costco with good typicity, red fruits, decent freshness and tastes how a Rosso di Montalcino should.

Young still - was better (less oaky) on night two after air and a night under cork. Dark, tasty fruit.

Ripe apricot, subtle underbrush, iodine, salinity, and crushed granite. Primarily non-fruit driven, though plenty of fruit as well. High tannin with a pleasant tang and a light phenolic grip on the finish. A little riper richer version of Xarel-lo. Medium gold with a slight orange tint to the color.

This is truly remarkable value at $32. Traditional Chablis. Complex aromas of saline, wet stone, lemon and flint. On the palate is a bright and fresh wine with robust acids and delicately integrated alcohol. Flavours are a tart medley of lemon and lime with a subtle crushed stone minerality. Exceptional length. Wish I had a few more.

Deep and complex nose with apricots, honey, and orange as the key components. Impeccably balanced palate with good acidity, only moderate sweetness, more orange and some lemon flavors, apricot, hay, honey, and caramel. Very long finish. A fantastic experience! Surprisingly youthful and elegant, it feels like the wine needs another couple of decades to show its best. Pure class.

"Oh dear, this is special" are words fellow CT'er Tim Heaton used when describing a certain wine (you'll have to read ALL of his notes to find that particular wine ;)

This is what came to mind from the first sniff, sip, the middle of the bottle, and to the very end. For days and weeks before writing this, these thoughts remained. They will never leave because this is one of the very few, very special wines I've ever had the pleasure of tasting.

What makes it so special? Well for me, it's the wine's elegance, exquisiteness, and pinpoint fine tuned focus. The acidity and balance are dare I say perfect. Such that it might almost become an afterthought, until you realize that it shouldn't. Most wines aren't configured and composed like this.

Since this wine is so very young, I gave it plenty of air prior to drinking. 18 hours with the cork off and a few hours in decanter. With my very best friend and awesome wood fired pizza (that helped a lot!), it made for a great evening.

Translucent garnet red appearance. Sweet red and wild berries, fresh cut flowers, and some leather on the nose. Bing cherry, strawberry, and red raspberry grace the palate. The tannins are super fine grained and the finish is savory and long-ish. With more time in the bottle, the tannins will meld further and the finish should get longerer-ish ;)

A most beautiful & refined BdM. One of a kind IMHO. I hope everyone gets to enjoy a bottle!

Cheers!

Very light wine. Citrus-forward and relatively balanced. Drinks like a glass of punch from a punch bowl, with the sophistication of wine. If you want a casual summer wine, this is one to look at.

This was pretty closed at first but with air it started to show floral notes, wild strawberries, and sweet fruit. Well balanced with good depth on the palate, ripe fruit, and maybe a hint of plums. It picked up aromatics and lift with air. Long finish. A gorgeous wine, although not quite as good as the last bottle I had. In this tasting a small but noticeable step up from the Pignan.

A big step up from the 2001 Tours Vacqueyras. Very pretty nose with lots of cherries, a hint of strawberries, and spices. The palate is also very fruit driven with more cherries and strawberries, noticeable structure, and a little sweeter fruit, especially when compared to the Rayas. Nice finish.

Approaching 13 yrs old, you’d never know by tasting it. Chalky tannins, tar, saddle leather, acidity, and blackberries. Well structured with a lingering chalky finish. This has years, more likely decades, to go. 100% Baga from very old vines. 94/100 points.

Good flavors on the nose, but compared to the Pignan and Rayas this showed much more alcoholic heat, accompanied by cherries and some flowers. I also go the heat on the palate, but there are nice fruit notes, and an herbal quality that keep it from being unbalanced. Good finish. A nice wine, but not really close to the other two.

My second of three bottles. My first tasting note in October 2021 indicated a big wine that was bit over powering on oak, alcohol and tannins at the time. At this tasting however, the wine is coming across much better. It’s a fairly big powerful cab but the alcohol, oak and tannins have integrated. Requires 20 minutes of air to open up and soften. Good depth/concentration of ripe, rich blackberry and black raspberry fruit on the palate with notes of almonds and really nice medium+ tannins on the finish. Very good now but should be even better in a couple more years.

Kind of flat. Cork was in fantastic shape and bottle seems well preserved, but slight red fruit, some smooth tannin, faint forest floor on the nose, but almost nothing on the palate. slightly watery. Took a flier on value and it is interesting to taste something this old, but ultimately maybe just past its window. Inoffensive.

Deep and dark nose with notes of violets, black cherries, and lots of floral character. Good acidity with meaty flavors, olives, bacon, and more cherries. Long finish. A beautiful experience and while I'm sure this will only be better in 10-20 years it's really showing well today with air.

Lådan som i början var en besvikelse tar farväl med flaggan i topp. Efter 17 år är det här inte längre ett vresigt och raspigt vin utan välpolerad barolo med röda bär, viol och rosiga kinder. Subtilt.

Lovely nose that still has lots of fruit, cherries, iron, meaty notes, and violets. Good acidity on the palate with a bit of forest, more iron, savory, and flowers. Long finish. A fantastic showing! This was still very young but showing some tertiary flavors and lovely complexity. Should continue to evolve beautifully for years to come.

The nose was quite shy at first but it woke up with air and showed complex and nuanced notes of citrus, flowers, a hint of smoke, and a bit of oak. Excellent balance with similar flavors, well integrated oak, and lots of depth. Nice finish. Phenomenal wine that is all about nuance rather than in-your-face power. There's not shortage of flavor, though and it kept changing with time in the glass. Wonderful!

Nice nose with lemon notes, some flowers, a hint of jasmine, and flint. Good acidity with a distinct lemon note, green apples, and a ton of minerals on the palate. Good finish. Compared to the other whites on the table, this showed perhaps a bit more age than is expected. Still pleasurable but probably technically slightly advanced.

Lovely nose with lemon, creamy notes, some schist / minerals, and bright fruit. The palate is much richer than the nose suggests with great acidity, flavors of apple, lemon, a hint of flowers, and much more minerals. Good finish that lingers for a while. This is probably drinking close to peak now.

Light yellow, moderately sized bubbles ample but not overwhelming. Crispness of lime and salinity gives way to a finish of golden delicious apple that’s a touch too sweet. Perhaps a few more years will mellow that.

Light yellow color. Super floral and peachy on the nose, with all sorts of tropical flowers and dandelion, with lime, pineapple, white peach, even some chalk dust and notes of flint and perfume. Ripe but fresh on the palate, brisk but pleasant juiciness, with white peach and ruby red grapefruit dominating. Lots of herbs and white pepper, wildflowers, some stony, mineral vibes. Totally delicious and a lot more complex than I was expecting. A fun blend of 25% Malvasia Bianca, 22% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Muscat Canelli, 16% Muscat Blanc, 11% Semillon, and 6% Blanc du Bois.

Ljusgul, toner av brons. Tunna gardiner (12,5 procent).
Grapeskal, gröna äpplen. Mycket frisk kritig doft.
Stram med hög syra. Gröna äpplen och pressad citron.
Hyggligt lång eftersmak med citrus och äppelskal. Rätt tajt. Inget fluff. Slicka på en sten. En god sten. Men.

Medel/mörk tegel. Klart. Tunna gardiner (13,5 procent).

Hallon, jordgubbar.
Relativt låg syra, viss sötma – men helt torrt vin. Grapeskal, röda bär. Fruktfluff.
Hyggligt lång eftersmak med röda bär och liten beska. Gräddigt och mumsigt. Klarar ganska kryddhet lax med misodressing.

This is a big wine but in some way maintains elegance: dark color gives nose of leather, spice, some cedar, cherry and black pepper. Mouthfeel is full but with balanced acidity. Long finish. This has many years to go to be sure. Incredible wine and truly a find. Will look to get the 2019 vintage soon and compare.

Mörk granat. Rätt tunna gardiner.
Hallon, körsbär, blå plommon. Ålderstoner av läder och höstlöv. Lätt fatrost och mjölkchoklad.
Medelsyrligt, grovpolerade tanniner. Viss fruktsötma, röda bär, liten beska. Inte särskilt fylligt, som O’Boy på vatten. Kort i frukten men kvardröjande beska i eftersmaken. Snyggt utan att vara elegant.

Nicely priced Shiraz with a cool beer-shaped bottle. Aromas of raspberry and cherry, with hints of oak and black pepper. Full bodied with medium+ acidity, smooth tannins, lots of ripe berry flavours, and a bit of black pepper on the finish. Enjoy with grilled sausages or pork.

Hey this is California Chardonnay. You gotta give them some credit for this attempt. There is is just a hint of crisp mineral sandstone behind the basically proper, ripe peach, lemon and green apple fruit. It’s not particularly complex, but they did a nice job with balance, not too acidic, decent fruit, and we don’t really notice the alcohol. It’s got yellowish golden color. Not as full bodied as most California Chardonnay.
