PnP. Textbook Gigondas in an approachable modern style. Was going to say I don't usually open bottles this young but ~10 years is at least entering middle age (still working off the last 1994/5 Vacqueyras in the cellar). Anyways this has great balance and delicious flavors.

A bit of brown, brick red to indicate the age on this otherwise dark wine. Big, rich, jammy, smooth. Grenache seems to dominate the fruit: Raspberry, blackberry, black cherry. Cinnamon, spicy oak on the nose. Well integrated tannins. Huge wine that is over the top with fruit, but remains lifted and incredibly bright fruit for 18 years! Stunning in that way. Bright red licorice flavor. Would never guess that such a big, extracted wine could be this fruity and retain balance at age 18. Other than the color, I'd guess this was 4 or 5 years old. Extremely well done.

A WTSO special. Worth tracking down... for the price point.

Color. Saturated red/purple

Nose. Classic old world stewed prune, stewed tomatoes, kirsch, clove. Not a bouquet for the fruit forward fans...

Palate. Rich tannic structure. Cranberries, cherries, burnt chocolate. Finish is short.

As described. Light, citrus, mineral. Good enough but wouldn’t seek out.

Excellent. Not fruit forward, needed some time to open up. Nicely balanced.

Black cherry, cedar, vanilla, dried herbs. More body than most Chiantis but also more oak, which is not yet fully integrated but it's close, will probably drink at peak starting in four years.

Solid Chianti. Nice QPR. Red cherry, easy drinking, didn't need decanting.

Solid Brunello, red cherry

Tannins took some time to mellow out in the decanter.

Paired well with pizza.

As others have said, the quality of this wine is excellent. The price was less than $30 but punches way above that price. I'd peg this at $80 plus. The nose is fantastic. The black fruit is singing and the finish is long. I wish I had bought more.

Aromas of ripe pear, lime, grapefruit, elderflower, a little something veggie and herbal, this is quite ripe and fruity for a 2021... full and viscous, deep and cutting acid, layers of fruit, gorgeous inner perfume of citrus and flowers... long and mineral, fruit is pristine and intense through the finish. This is not super primary, but it's also not showing anything tertiary, it will be worth following at least a few more years. Brilliant Sancerre, about as good as an "entry-level" cuvee gets.

Close to my ideal of what Gamay should be: silken tannins, light on the palate yet with great palate presence and an abundance of fruit, fresh acidity making it a great foil for food. While it most certainly will age effortlessly, it is arguable whether it will provide any more pleasure in the future than it does right now.

Ruby-garnet color. Dried red cherries, dried herbs, sage, spice on the nose. Palate is dense and precise, with a tannic bite that lasts through the finish. Very structured and complex. It’s a shame this producer does not exist anymore.

Poured a glass one night via Coravin, opened the bottle two nights later and finished the following night. Good blackberry and dark currant notes with an appealing smoky/meaty streak. Marked a bit lower as the tannins were still really aggressive. Two more bottles that I will let sit for 2 years at least.
A decent amount of sedimentation.

Palate: dry, medium tannin, medium acidity, full body, black fruit, leather. Lingering finish

Conclusions: decanted for 2hrs. Nicely balanced and drinking well. Not overly layered or complex. Very good

Really enjoyed this wine. Similar nose and palate. Ripe dark red and black fruit with some pine and spice. Not particularly earthy

Elements of new world and old world - certainly ripe but has good acidity.

I would buy again for ~$40.

Dark purple in color with minimal signs of age. Beautiful bouquet that just kept opening up over the course of several hours. Drinking beautifully now but will last several more years. Tannins have softened but are still there. Long finish.

On the nose- Big dark fruits, dark cherries, red raspberries, blueberries, cassis, figs, plums, red flowers, baking spices, oak, cigar box spice.

On the palate- Big dark fruits and dark cherries, red raspberries and blueberries, cassis and figs, plums and red flowers, baking spice and oak with some cigar box spice. This wine is drinking fantastic now but could age another 3-5 years with no problem at all.

Always a treat to open a Carlisle Papera, but the 17 is lacking a bit of depth compared to other vintages. I enjoyed a 2017 Montafi the other day significantly more. I'd say drink up over the next couple years as I don't see a ton of upside to holding.

Still quite a dark purple color. This has aromas of hot gravel, rich soil and ripe black berry. Medium-bodied, this is still moderately tannic with earth and some black fruits. This is fine at present, but I'd opt to drink now before it dries out further. 88

This is drinking great right now. Will aim to consume the remaining two bottles over the next 6 months. Very enjoyable fruit concentration, with a persisting signature Vosne Romanee spice. Balanced and complete village wine that delivers strongly for a questionable vintage.

Impulse Purchase @ Costco (Highly Recommended by their wine steward)
14.1% abv - $15 (after $5 off)

Served (aerated, 2-hour decant) with NY Strip Steak, Mashed Potatoes & Salad.

Beautiful dark Purple-Red on the pour. Clear in the glass. Delightfully fragrant nose of Cassis and Blackberry. Blackberry, Dark Cherry and notes of licorice on the palate. Supple tannins leave a slight mouth-pucker; Moderate but ample acidity. A Hearty and Robust wine, yet Silky-smooth with an exquisite mouth feel. Pleasant, lingering finish.

Same tasting note from a little over a year ago. Not much change. Orange marmalade and apricot. Solidly in secondary phase with years left in it. Refined unctuous palate. Just as good, possible better, the second night. 375 ml.

Gave the Cellar tracker tasting note assistant a try..... The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like blueberry, dust and black pepper. It tastes like blueberry. The body is medium/full. The wine has juicy texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

Interesting, had this one week after the dream of espamia 2020. More fruity and maybe less depth, but definitely in it's drinking window. Enjoyed. Didn't change much after 24 hrs.

WS 94 points. It's 52% Grenache, 21% Mataro, 14% Graciano, 11% Syrah, 2% Carignan. I read somewhere a few weeks ago that this might be ready to drink so I stood the bottle up a few weeks back and then gave it a 5 hour decant today. Paired with NY Strip Steak and that worked well, and it's a fantastic wine but it's not ready yet. Needs time to mellow. I have one other bottle and I can't imagine touching it for at least 4-5 years.

A super accompaniment to grilled pizza on a stormy Memorial Day evening. Cork was in perfect condition. Full bodied and similar to bottles drunk over the last three years, with blackberry/dark fruits, pepper, and a hint of licorice.
