Opened bottle about 5 hours before aerating. Had way too much bite. Mixed with Sprite as a spritzer and was better. Will try tomorrow; hopefully it lightens up.

Excellent wine! Still has life in the cellar. Deep extraction. Great food wine. The bottle barely lasted through dinner.

Easily worth repeats at the price. Balanced acidity and plenty of character

Bold flavor for an Oregon Pinot. A little bit of spice in there and a very robust finish.

Ruby throughout. Complex aromas of mixed fruit, smoke, and blood right out of the bottle with some light green herbs as well. Medium bodied, very elegant feel that was more Burgundian than the Grand Cru Burgundy alongside it. Fluid, sensuous feel with a great mix of blackberry, citrus peel, outstanding acidity, and a strong soil core. We all agreed that this was the wine of the night, and it was much more vibrant and balanced than one I had in late 2022. Outstanding mature Syrah.

Medium + intensity nose in the red fruit spectrum, cranberry, cherry, all spice, hint of barnyard???
On the palate, medium (+) acid, rounded red fruit, just ripe strawberry, red cherry, blood orange, a hint medicinal, medium (+) body for rose, medium (-) alcohol, but shows warmer, medium length.
I am not sure if its down to time under Coravin, but this is 'only' very good. Balance is there, and there is complexity, but the length is a little lacking and the intensity, which the colour would suggest is elevated, is a little muted.
Composite cork.

Quite tasty cherry raspberry fruit on the palate with notes of tomato leaf and herbs, followed by bright uplifting acidity on the mid and back palate followed by dusty fined grained tannins on the finish. A very nice Sangiovese indeed. Just what I was hoping for. Paired nicely with pasta primavera with asparagus and peas.

Unevolved deep ruby. Lots of oak, black and dark red fruit aromas. Densely fruited, obvious wood, and ripe tannins. Large scaled Charmes. This remained one dimensional and did not loosen or gain much complexity with several hours of air.

A very smooth, if nondescript, Rosé of Pinot Noir. Goes with almost any lighter meal. Could not hold it’s own against anything spicy, but it’s a smooth, very easy drinking patio pounder sort of rosé. Nothing not to like. Good QPR.

Probably WOTN? 91-92?

Rich, unfolding, complex.

Aromatically intense: jam and savor, but not heavy or hot.

More fruit in the mouth.

Moderate + acidity. Long finish.

Tragically the last vintage made that I can tell...:(

Tasted over 3 hrs
-nearly semi-translucent med red/purple mild bricking
-red apple peel
-med+/high acidity carries throughout to a rough finish with med- tannins and mostly drowns out the little bit of faded chalky raspberry red fruit
-really needed to be drunk young when the primary fruit could provide some buffer to the acidity
White - Off-dry
5/20/2024 - drwine2001 wrote:
Full yellow. Forward scents of ripe yellow peach, petrol, and ginger. Full bodied and glycerine without heaviness. Off dry rather than overtly sweet. Fresh fruit, excellent depth and length, but somewhat soft and wanting more acidity and cut. Amazingly sturdy but short of being great. I had a similar impression the one other time I tasted this in 2013.

Outstanding.
Medium (-) onion skin to orange.
Medium nose of orange rind and mandarin, and rosehip.
On the palate high acidity, medium body, medium alcohol, pronounced flavour intensity of orange, cranberry, rose, with air a hint of caramel.
This is an outstanding rose with impeccable balance, medium + length, pronounced intensity, particularly on the palate and medium + complexity.
Ideal with food, as a more structured alternative to higher acid white wines.
Screwcap.

Opened for my May bottle in the NW Wine Report 2024 Rhone Blend Challenge. This one checks in with 60% Mourvedre, 20% Syrah, 10% Grenache and 10% Carignan, at 14% ABV. Dark ruby with some murkiness. The Mourved stands out to me on first sniff with it's wild and brambly aroma. Showing flavors of cherry and strawberry fruits on the attack, bramble and tobacco with some nice minerality in the middle, and tart cherries and oak on the finish. High acidity that makes your mouth water. It's a nice, well-made wine, just not really my cup of grape juice if I'm being honest. Drink now - 2032.

Double decanted 4 hours before enjoying over 2 hours. This bottle was as close to perfection that I've ever had before.

The aromas were nothing short of mesmerizing – a symphony of vibrant, candied red fruits reminiscent of the '19 Vietti Barbaresco Masseria Roncaglie, which I enjoyed a few weeks ago, yet possessing the profound depth of a 30+ year old wine. Layer upon layer unfolded, transporting me to the dewy morning vineyards of Piemonte, with notes of fresh mint, wet roses, savory umami, and subtle pepper.

The palate was a masterclass in harmony and complexity. Crunchy red cherries burst with freshness, complemented by the seductive allure of smoked meat, truffles, and forest floor. The acidity and tannins struck the perfect balance, lending structure and vitality to the wine's velvety texture. This wine has all the legs to continue to go for another 5-10 more years.

This bottle was a spellbinding experience. I eagerly anticipate revisiting it in 5-10 years, when time will have woven its magic once more. Truly unforgettable. 98-99

Fabulous acidity, sharp and precise, mineral and steely, need some time to open up. Enjoy the square ice sugar kind of sweetness at the finish (although definitely dry). A wine with tension and austere character. Might be hard to appreciate when young or not for everyone, but certainly a great quality Riesling that rivals the best GGs in Germany.

Delicious. Deep ruby nearly opaque in the glass, aromas of dark fruit leap from the glass, palate is dry tannins integrated, ripe black plum, black currant, black berry, pencil shavings, leather, cedar, tomato leaf greenness, hint of anise, high acidity, full body, long lingering finish.

My favorite wine of the event. Sea salt, lemon juice, pineapple, honey, savoury. Complex and seducing, very expressive to drink now. Great acidity that pierces through the palate. Wavering length with flavours and texture. Love it!

Dark red rich slightly bitter volcanic fruit
White - Sweet/Dessert
Amber in colour.
Botrytised raisins.
The nose is candied and cooked peach flesh with a hint of honey.
The palate has acid-edged peach concentration, incredibly heightened, luscious and concentrated. Peach-saturated sweetness meets an incredible acidity of 13g/L.
This is an enormously concentrated and challenging TBA for the next 10+ years.
The sweetness is not hidden and neither is the acidity.
8% alcohol.
Needs time to find itself and then decades to mature - it will live beyond me.

2+ hour decant, poured with a spicy red sauce and sausage over fresh spaghetti. Just beautiful. Everything is in harmony. Dark and bright, fruit and slight tannins, with a complement of acidity. Perfect with the slow cooked red sauce and the spicier sausages. Think it’s peaked, but certain it has a long life ahead. Delightful.

Unlike some other reviews, I don’t find this big and bold. I do like a big Syrah. I like this wine, but don’t love it. I find the flavors interesting, but something on my taste buds aren’t going “wow”. Smoke, mid level dark fruit and berries with some cinnamon and little mineral.

My guideline for a 90 and above is do I want to drink the entire bottle. The answer on this one is “no”. I respect the craft of this wine and the talent to blend these grapes.

My wine buddy suggested a long decant for this and I'm glad I listened after sampling it a couple times during the afternoon. Opened and decanted at 11:45am, back into the bottle at 5:00pm and open at the restaurant for another 3 hours. Light red, slightly tart fruit with lots of cherry and some underbrush. Slightly lean, but elegant, and smooth on the palate. Better with food. I didn't write down a score, but perhaps 91-92.
