Oxidised and out of condition; feels like adjusted acidity married to slight baked apple and marmalade and luscious sugar levels. Clumsy and not a good match to the food. Meh.

Loved everything about this. It’s what I remember from when I bought it but amplified. I wish I’d been more patient because I think another 5-8 years would have done this wine well.
On the nose, mocha, dark fruit, some pyrazine notes, leather, earth notes.
On the palate, muted dark fruits, chocolate, coffee, green notes, cayenne and chili powder, raw wood, plum. Grippy tannins (needs more time) and string wood notes.
Great with good, heavy on its own but still very enjoyable. A perfect reminder of why you should always buy at least 2 bottles. Wish I had more.

Super pyarzine; very green capsicum notes to go with blackcurrant and plums, violets, plenty of tannins but super fresh and enjoyable.

Polished ripe red berry fruit ably supported by oak that lends complexity and texture rather than competing with the fruit. Lovely with the pork

red fruit, dry but not too tannic...

Oh, this is better; stone fruit, fresh, juicy, some malo buttery notes lends interest, touch of oak and a smidge of smoked bacon fat, fleshy and generous on the palate without losing freshness, Pretty good.

Quite forward; slight oxidised notes, honey, lemon curd, off-dry, a little out of whack and oxidised on the palate as well.

Great Leflaive sesame aromatics. Palate was ripe but the fruit was losing a bit of its freshness and sweetness. Better on the nose than palate. Drink up.

This was a very satisfying bottle of LSG and I probably couldn't have hoped for a better showing on the basis of how it showed a dozen years ago. It features scents of forest and underbrush - still hasn't kicked that element of greenery it showed back then, but it's exhibiting it in a softer and more harmonious, less spiky fashion. I guess at this point it's likely to be a permanent feature, but I actually really like what it does for the wine. The fruit material is streamlined but still feeling on the young side, nowhere near autumnal territory and with more freshness and sweetness than I've been primed to expect from the vintage. Still, it is understated. There's nothing that stands out and yet I keep picking it up to take another sip. And just when I thought it might have given everything it had, it took a turn towards even more finesse.

Classic, balanced, moderate in expression. One of those mid-range Burgundy wines that you enjoy having at a dinner, but then forget the next day ;-)

Prior bottle was 6 months ago and my notes were virtually identical. White peach, white pineapple and other tropical notes as well as floral qualities on the nose. Medium bodied with rounded white apple and brighter white peach upfront. Adds yellow peach and some yellow apple through the middle, along with white pineapple, passion fruit and other tropical notes. Backside citrus notes along with acidity and other tart qualities continue to contribute to balance and provide structure. Showing quite well at present and considering how many bottles I have access to, may arrange to open another one as soon as July.

Complex fruity nose with yellow stone fruit, apricot, ginger and lemon. Lemon and melon with buttery finish and a deep gun flint smokiness on finish. Very refined and concentrated.

I really like Clos Blanc de Vougeot.

PnP. Nice golden color. Appealing aromas of ripe apples, oak, pears and hazelnuts. Rich but extremely well balanced palate. Long but elegant finish. Best Cali Chard I've had all year. Clearly at peak - has a bit of acid so maybe has another year at this level, but I'd drink up sooner than later. Absolutely delightful!!

Pale ruby, slightly musty red currant, raspberry, black cherry, and dried strawberry on the first nose followed by earth, spice and orange peel, delicate berry fruit on the attack followed by spice, taut acidity, soft tannins, and red fruit, finishes with dry red fruits, plump acidity, spice, earth, minerality, and lingering dried cherry notes

Note: many references to the potential longevity of this Corton, I would agree, seems to be just dipping it's tow into the the drinking window and may not hit full "cannonball" for a decade or more, looking forward to splash

I agree with the previous note this is Burgundian in style. Nice strawberry still showing, along with mature earth and smokey mushroom. Good structure and holding up v nicely considering the age.

Medium intensity red fruit, olives, spice. High acidity, great with food. Tannins are there in the expectedly high amounts but are enjoyable. All around great wine and really makes you say "yum" - the only knock against is the nose is decidedly "medium intensity" and complexity is limited.

I agree with the recent reviews. Light nose, well balanced, mild tannins, and a touch of oak round out this wine nicely. I will add that this is drinking much better on the second day. It’s very enjoyable and a perfect price point Bordeaux for quality and food.
Cheers

Nose: iron, black fruits, musk, mixed nuts, tar, cherry, cedarwood
Notes: 13% ABV. While the palate of this wine shows a much softer tone than its nose but metallic and iron aroma is quite prominant, a common nose one will get from the Pommard appellation. Wines from this appellation surely requires one with an acquired taste to appreciate. Although this may not be the appellation that I admire but I'm able to appreciate the complexity and completeness of this wine. This is starting to be drinkable but probably would be better in a few more years.

Nose: white flower, fig, caramel, mandarin, coconut, creme brulee
Notes: the nose is those of typical old Champagne so it's already quite oxidative and perhaps quite advanced already. It's difficult to say that I like this very much as most of the fruits are gone and lacks the freshness that would otherwise make the wine a more balanced one. This is probably over its optimal drinking window already and whoever still holding on to this should drink up.

Another Montagu Chardonnay, another QPR winner. This is undoubtedly the best non-vineyard designate that Weston has made (although it is technically 100% Hudson).

As most Hudson fruit Chardonnays are, the fruit is upfront and unabashed. Distinct herb crusted yellow fruits and lemon cream aromatically. Soft cotton candy, honeysuckle, more lemon fruit and salted lemon scone on the palate. This leans rich but doesn’t go over the edge. Good acidity. Not lean, but not a flabby/boozy Cali chard either. Really nice now…drink sooner rather than later.

So shut down on PNP. Dumb on the nose, but showed promise in the glass. Decided to let this sit in the decanter for at least an hour to see if it would open up... And it did!

Crunchy, dry and bright. Plenty to like with a bit of tar, chocolate, and minerality. That's day one.

Darker fruited on day two which suits me just fine.

Hold, or maybe a one to two hour decant for me.

Fantastic bouquet of black cherry with lots of spices and tobacco. Exotic spices continue into the palate complementing layers of black fruits. The structure is soft and fully integrated.

Undoubtedly, it is a special wine with strong character and unique personality.

It's almost decadent as it saunters in with a certain politesse before the pleasantly tart jab in the middle pulls everything into focus. Dark cherry, plum, oak, campfire, ripe strawberry, vanilla, cola and a nice terroir shading that is at once buttery and enveloping come through, leading to a bright and medium-long finish that accentuates the ripe fruit notes. Easy drinking, poised, structured and just lovely, Elouan did it the whole West Coast pinot noir thing quite nicely here, making it an easy choice at this price point.

Beautiful crimson color. Glowing. Nose is exploding out of the glass tonight after about 90 minutes. Bright cherry and red berries with floral notes of roses. Candied cherry. Bright red licorice. On the palate, red berry fruit, cherry, with a chewy dry tannin structure and good balancing acidity. Good minerality. This is just entering its drinking window as the tannin structure has integrated nicely and is almost turning silky (but still plenty of structure). Nice length on the slightly drying finish. This is showing much better than my first bottle.

Drinking well right after opening. The Spatlese feinherbs from Falkenstein might be my favorite style from them. User friendly, energetic, delicious, with plenty of acidity but not rip your enamel off. From the 2018 vintage this is still very Falkenstein in style. Plenty of acidity and energy despite the hot vintage. I could drink these all day.
