Deeply colored. Juicy with a touch of menthol. Bigger in the fruit and alcohol than my preference, as it drinks rather Napa like. Calms on days 2 and 3 but the tannins just never get a foothold.

Nose of Anise, strawberry, hint of smoky sandalwood. Sweet and bright.

Front of red cherry, sweet clove and a hint of cigar box? Tannins are barely present. Plum sauce and a hint of anise on the middle. Finish lingers a bit and the acidity which is narrow on the front becomes mouth watering and rounded on the back but has a touch of grace all the way. Finish also has hints of smoked meats.

It is almost chianti like in several ways. Not quite as complex as a good Bordeaux, but this is a pleasant wine and recommended.

A crisp wine with a touch of sweetness. I am not really a white wine fan but this is drinkable while keeping a brightly acidic character with bright sharp fruit notes. Clean finish.

Clear color. Not as grassy as most New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs. Moderate acid. An easy drinker. paired well with roasted chicken with a light, dusting of salt, pepper, garlic, and paprika.

Agree with the tobacco on the mid-palate. The mouthfeel is a bit thin for this style, but generous flavors and textures. QPR is OK.

Informal notes from phone -

Nose - peach, melon
Palate - peach, melon, light oak, thin mouthfeel initially but builds a little with air and temp
Other - pale yellow, medium length oaky finish, they say aged in FO but come across as a little harsh and an overly prominent flavor, not enough acid and is a little flabby on finish, may be rough on this score but I was not a fan, willing to try again
White - Sparkling

Nose - peach, bakery - like standing in a bakery, green apple
Palate - yeast, green apple, lemon, peach with some air and temp
Other - straw color, crisp acid, medium yeast finish, lots of autolytic notes, interesting wine, won't actively seek this out but willing to try again

Nose of figgy jam, olive and notes of cola.

D2 nose shows rounder with sweet smooth notes of cola and dark fruit...almost jammy.

Palate of blackberry up front with velvety tannins and notes of orange on the edges. Black cherry and watery acidity on the finish. Very sweet wine but drinkable.

D2 strawberry up front with Blackberry and hints of licorice on the middle. Nice subtle acidity and a pleasant finish.

Dried leaves, anise and pencil eraser on tje nose.

Palate of cherry, and a powdery cinnamon sugar note on tje front. More dark cherry with blooming tobacco on the middle with a line of soft tannins. Nice finish with notes of Raspberry and more drying tobacco for a pleasant finish.

Still a pleasant wine. Full bodied, and rich. Not overly complex but definately a Bordeaux blend.

Nose of cedar and vanilla with sweet earthy aromas.

Palate of dark chocolate and blackberry. Chalky grippy tannins with blueberry on the middle and tobacco on a peppery finish.

Nice overall wine.

A highly enjoyable wine. It burgeoning upon truly fine bit is drinkable without decant and stands on its own. It jist lacks the true complexity and grace of the classified Bordeaux.

Very dark for a rose. The eyes do not deceive as it is a more full and structured wine. The fruit is more in the background to cigarette and herbal qualities. Busy finish. Went well with roto chicken.

On the nose and on the palate, it is reminiscent of a high quality Bordeaux. Not quite there but enjoyable none the less.

Bright ruby color.

Nose of Anise, Blueberry and bright Potpourri.

Palate of cinnamon, blueberry on the front. Smoky tannins, but soft ones, come in on the mid, with Tart cherry and a hint of pepper on the back.

bracing but fresh acidity. A light wine, but pleasant. Halfway between a Chianti and a Bordeaux.

To the nose, green grass, grapefruit and lemon grass, with faint lime/scallion/lychee/cat pee mix. On the palate, a very nice blend of lemon-lime, grapefruit, pear, melon, and straw. Rounder mouthfeel than expected with medium length. Lively still with a slight, interesting saltiness. Paired well with grilled seafood, including salmon. Good QPR.

Golden in color. Honeyed and tropical on the nose. Very rich on the palate. Overly honeyed and sugared with plenty of sweet apricot. Touch cloying on the end. Serve really cold and don't drink too much at a time.

PNP and enjoyed over three days. Very balanced from nose to finish and no real change over the days. Coffee, blackberry and sautéed buttered mushrooms. Easy on its own. Fine with a bison tenderloin. Overpowered by 72% dark chocolate.

Purchased this wine without tasting as only pickup on orders was available at the time. Light in the glass with some fizz... not much flavor besides some off tart notes... wet slate, musty, dandelion leaves... finish about the same. Acid fine, but didn't play well with salad or bread. The grapes used adjust every year but I won't be there to see if there is improvement. The reds from this winery are worthwhile.

Defined by what it is not, as opposed to what it its. Not too berry... not too smokey... Even in tone and balance. Enjoyed with asian flavored tuna and salmon and it played the foil well.

This 2007 proves out the style of Cabednet Franc winemaker Sebastien made while at Doukenie. This is a wonderful 14 year old Virginia Cab Franc that carries itself beautifully into real drinking age. Couldn't ask for a better Cab Franc.I am going to hold some another 5 yeara because I think it will atill get even better, if I don't go ahead a drink it.

A very nice northern Virginia expression! More earth and spice driven, but with plenty of ample fruit as well. Moderately aromatic, with hints of that cab franc graphite underneath a prominent Dr pepper nose - vanilla, red cherry, warm spices of cinnamon and nutmeg. Great smoothed out tannins, lots earthy moss and bramble, red cherry, and a moderately long finish of cocoa and spice box. A tad high oak, but very well balanced. Drinking beautifully right now and not a whole ton of structure so I wouldn't hold on for too long. Great blend!

Still strong. Bright yellow and off-dry. Wonderfully aromatic but not overpowering like a pure Viognier or Gewurz. Perfect compliment to some rich and spicy Thai food.
