Unobjectionable but not overly complex Shiraz. Surprised to see this is now marketed as only an Australia wide blend (not even SA or SEA). Probably not really worth the £10 price. 86-87 pts

Good. Slightly bitter, astringent finish.

Popped and poured. Nose of black raspberry, black plum, anise, bramble and spice. Ripe black and red fruit, anise, bramble, spice and chewy tannins on the palate. Long fruit-driven finish. Full bodied. A very good QPR. Served with grilled Reuben sandwiches.

Plums and confectionery-like sweet Ribena notes, over powered the tannins and smothered the acidity too. Don't remember the finish after so many bottles but guess it may have been short?

Some pepper and ripe cherry on the mid palate after a glass or two too.. too much for me really!

Thought we were done with the Sunday lunch and BYO wines in Artisans Playground.. Guess not, this 9th or was it 10th bottle appeared late in the evening!

Jacobs Creek.. Still haven't found one which I appreciate yet, alas..

Unfortunately lost my earlier tasting notes. From memory not aging well, fruit has dropped off, so overly oaked (most likely old). Jubes. High alcohol (14.6%) resembling Barossa characteristics. Didn’t enjoy day 1, tipped out day 3.Might be okay as food wine but not complex and interesting enough alone.

I've never thought much of this producer, but maybe that view is undeserved. Quite approachable. Not amazing, but easy to drink.

Good drinking and good value when you pop it away for a few years.

Opened a bottle tonight over dinner to signal the end of the work year over a home-cooked steak.

Bright purple in colour with notes of fresh berries and plums. A touch of vanilla in the back with a smooth finish that was occasionally hijacked by bursts of fumes of alcohol and dark spices and liquorice.

Not a bad wine, but nothing terrific about it either.

Spicier than expected, smooth and silky Aussie fruit. Soft tannins, had with a ribeye at Outback with Dad in Daytona.

Dark inky hue. Overtones of dark, ripe fruit. Blackberry, prunes, spice, leather. Past its prime. Suspect this was better in its youth-- if you have it in your cellar, suggest you drink it up.

Unremarkable. Deficiency of fruit on palate and on nose.

A great week day wine for the price. Snagged it on sale for $10.

Bought this at 50% off and opened it at home over dinner with my in-laws to celebrate a birthday. We had pan-fried ribeye, oyster omelette, chicken and pork satay, crispy pork joel, crispy kailan, fried hokkien mee, fried rice and barbecued XXL prawns.

Tight upon opening. Soft chewy tannins with fresh blackberry and plums coupled with cream and liquorice.

Not terribly impressive; not terrible either. Had expected more from the Reserve range.

An 89 from WS

$12 at TW

Alcohol 13.9

PnP. Dark red fruit, blackberry, soft tannins, smooth on the palate. A little bit of spice during a medium finish. A really nice drinking wine at a really good QPR.

👍

2/11/21 edit - 30 minute glass decant today. Same impression as in August yet this time paired with KC style bbq pork ribs. Paired like a pig and slop, a pig and a blanket.....in other words, they went well together. :)

Thrown a huge crust. Hazy in the glass. Porty, sweet nose and unbalanced "cooked" palate. Awful.

ED: auction buy, probably affected by storage.

Deep ruby colour. Appealing nose with gum notes. Generally good balance on the palate, but dominated by tannins and with limited fruit counterpoint, and a slightly stalky finish. Solid food fine.

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like plum . It tastes like intensity ripe plum, forest floor, espresso with pepper, oak and black pepper. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine is well balance . The wine has low acidity.

Really not very good. Concocted, confected, sweet fruit and sticky tannins, little or no varietal typicity, manages to be green and alcoholic at the same time, raw finish. I suspect that you could make this without actually using grapes, but I guess that they killed some of the poor buggers in the process. A dog’s breakfast - except that our Dachshund Otto probably wouldn’t go near this. A huge disappointment and it isn’t exactly cheap either. “Reserve”?!? Who are they kidding? Even France makes better wines at half the price now.

This is ordinary and a big step down on the BV variant. Seems almost stripped of proper fruit; rather traces of generic red berries. Like drinking a sh(*&* red in economy class (ie the altitude killing the fruit). To be fair did improve a little but the damage was already done.

Plum, vanilla, backing spice. Rich and fruit forward upfront, with soft tannin and a fresh mid palate. The finish is peppery with notes of oak.

dark red, dark fruits and spices, supple tannins, with a sweet dense core, simple structure but no mistake at this price, good length and density.

Ap 5/5, Ar 12/15, Palate 17/20, Overall 2+2/10
Total 88+/100

Visual : Medium intense of purple, clean visual. Good leg.
Nosing : Medium nosing of dark fruit. Pepper. Vanilla.
Palate : Full body, high acidity dry wine. High alcohol. Good and noticeable tannin.
Finishing : Medium to long finishing.
Conclusion : Good balance, good structure.

Black, hearty South Australian Shiraz goodness. Blackberry, beef, plum, chocolate, dried herbs, molasses. So close to 90 points, doesn’t quite have the grunt or length. Happy to drink this.

Balanced and smooth. Dark red turning to brick red with a little bit of crumble at the edges. A touch of spice/pepper, fading tannins and minimal acid. Was probably better a couple of years ago but pleasant enough as a mid week quaffer with food. Would make a good accompaniment to a mixed grill bbq on a Saturday arvo. Scored it at 87 but a couple more glasses could see it rate at 88.

Unremarkable. Fruits are ripe but dull and probably a 'dead fruited' as this wine is at least the 14.5% as stated on the label. Funky aniseed on the nose and palate but not fresh fruit and genuine structure to counter-act. Does remind of the over-blown wines from the early 2000s.

As expected. Full bodied with ripe mulberries with plenty of soft ripe tannins. Hints of black pepper and also chocolate.. Almost good value if on sale. Feels like the result of high extraction from grapes that were fully ripe but from high yielding vines.

Second attempt. Kept for 3 years. Improved the wine immensely. Wine went from awkward duckling to beautiful swan. Nice rich flavours and nice dark red colour. Let decant for half an hour which allowed a full body but smooth textures.
