This was just excellent, as expected. Really firing on all cylinders. Sad it's my last bottle of this vintage but at least I've got other vintages!

Fruit has mostly gone and showing past it's prime for sure. Balance is a bit off too, but still tastes good. Will need to drink our last bottle sooner rather than later.

After about 15 minutes of air this was just delicious. The fruit was a bit raisined at first but the air seemed to help disperse that in favour of a largely savoury core to the wine. The mint and eucalyptus came through as well. Nicely dense and palate coating also.

Still holding its magenta color. Spicy and woody nose. Fresh red and blue fruit, white pepper, sweet tannins, and a great medium to long finish. Wonderful.
Red
Still in fine fettle, fruit is lively and tannins present but not aggressive.

Still has the bones of a very nice bottle, though a bit past its prime. No bricking to speak off, but fruit is a little faded and acidity is more prominent than I remember from previous bottles. Maybe sitting in a closet all these years wasn't ideal storage for it. Curious to see how the last couple are holding up.

Drinking very well. Not as overtly nutty as some other bottles, which let some of the other components shine through.

Outstanding! Full bodied, balanced, and very drinkable. It could also lay down for a few more years.

Still going strong. Great balance with bacon fat, a touch of olive and perfect acidity to counter lamb chops. Just one left….

Oak spice, aged cranberries, and wet forest nose. Initial hit of rustic tannins and baking spice, then baked cherries, smoke, and a long savory finish. Smooth and complex, this has reached a wonderful place.

The nose was a bit off/funky, but the pure red fruit is still there. Crushed blackberries, cedar, baking spices, dry tannins that show late, and a long finish. Very nice, but the nose worries me. Drink up.

This was excellent. At times super open and at times a bit shut down, but when open it was brilliantly mature and expressing a nice bit of fruit alongside plenty of savoury herbs, earth, and goodness.

This is a classic Cabernet Sauvignon with minty black fruit aromas. The robust flavours of plum, blackberry and chopped herb are matched by
approachable tannins and a pop of acidity.
Nose: Plum, blackcurrant, mint

The 2022 vintage presents aromatics of citrus, green apple, grass, herb and flowers. The body is equally fruity with accents of lime, lemon, apple, grapefruit, melon and cut grass. If you enjoy a crisp Chablis or Pinot Grigio, this is a great wine to try.

Maybe too long - seemed like a lot of Petit Verdot, which outsized some of the nuanced tastes of the cab. Not much of the rich peppery notes of the cab franc. Does pour a beautiful ruby color.

Wine was clear and clean with slight bricking. Still has dark fruit and was a pleasure to drink. I hope Peter is enjoying his retirement as mush as I'm enjoying his wine.

What a lovely wine! I put this away 9 years ago(2014), talk about patience!? Back in the day Woot Wine would promote Peter Wellington wines and I've tasted my share. But this!? Wow, just wow... I think of all the highly prized wines selling for $60+ and this would slay most of them. Fruit nose, with integrated tannins, good structure, very soft. I suspect it's getting close to its end. I'm so glad I waited, really nice finish. If you have some in your cellar, drink up through 2025.

Check out my cork, lots of residue, which I like to see on my cork. 😉

Ruby color, clean at edge. Eucalyptus & plum scents, not astringent at all. Flavors of currant, rounded cherry, and wet stone. Decanted 5 hours. Still miss this winery.

Not a lot of fruit left, but it did blossom after some air. In a nice place but perhaps the more fruit-forward vintages will age better.

Three years from my last bottle. The red fruit is darker, there's more spices, herbs and woody tannins, good acid, and a long finish. Aging gracefully and still well within its prime drinking window.

This wine has an amazing nose: butter, nuts, vanilla & a little lemon.

But the wine itself doesn’t have huge flavor: waxy honey, melon & a little bitter? If you like your wines less forceful you might enjoy this as the acid was low.

Lovely length & minerality on the finish but it is still young.

Is it just me, or are Wellington wines beginning to match Stellenbosch? This wine is superb and an interesting blend.

Lovely smokey nose straightaway – with dark fruit, rye bread & cigar notes.

Silky mouthfeel – rich & bold texture indicates long oak ageing. Blackberry, plum, chocolate, black pepper, leather & an earthy spiciness that really lingers.

Note: 90min decant - this one is young.

A nice, medium (-) bodied wine with notes of cherry. Tasted in South Africa, paired with pappardelle and venison meatballs.
