Flight 1 (1 note)

Red
1991 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Musigny Cuvée Vieilles Vignes France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Musigny Grand Cru
90 points
Nice notes of forest floor and framboise with a splash of vanilla. Somehow i felt the flavors were not fully expressive. Powerful and masculine. A little sharp and short on the finish.

Flight 2 (2 notes)

Red
1978 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
91 points
Should have decanted with hindsight. Sweet notes of prunes and smoked meats, but appeared muted when drunk side by side with the wonderful Chave which was much more expressive.
Red
1978 Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage
95 points
Lovely nose of smoke, tar and grilled game meat. Some of our party found the barnyard taste a bit overwhelming but I thought it's a beautiful expression of Chave's terroir.

Flight 3 (1 note)

Red
1999 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
92 points
Typical alluring aroma of caramel, tobacco, sweet black currants and herbs. Drinking well
