Flight 1 (1 note)

White
1999 Coche-Dury Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
92 points
Instantly lovable nose of buttered popcorn and toasted almonds. Not the most complex Coche I've tasted. A little one dimensional, or dare I say "new world"!?

Flight 2 (2 notes)

Red
1990 Château Pichon-Longueville Baron France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
97 points
Fabulous nose of charcoal, cigar, dark fruits and licorice. Gets better and better in the glass. Complex and long finish. Glorious!
Red
1990 Château La Conseillante France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol
92 points
I'm sure very good on its own, but this evening got completely ran over by the sheer power and finesse of the Baron served side by side.

Flight 3 (2 notes)

Red
1978 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
96 points
Exotic nose of chinese tea leaves, sweet cherries and smoked herbs. Very fresh for its age. Lovely.
Red
1994 Penfolds Grange Australia, South Australia
90 points
Dense, dark and powerful. Still very youthful. While no doubt a very good wine, seems a bit one dimensional compared to other wines this evening, and a bit too sweet and syrupy for my liking.
