This lesson focused in Wine aging and aging potential. Wines were tasted blind in flights of 2.

Red

Tasted blind. Light ruby color. Exuberant aromas of flowers in the nose with hints of alcohol. Light bodied, high acidity and very soft, almost unnoticeable tannins. Harmony between nose and palate. Excellent.
Red
2003 Louis Jadot Echezeaux France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru
90 points
Tasted blind. Light ruby color. In the nose flowers and wet earth. Light-medium bodied, a bit hollow, with medium to high acidity.

Flight 2 - 2 St. Estephes> Same wine, different vintages (2 notes)

Red
1978 Château Montrose France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
90 points
Tasted blind. Most of the participants in the panel didn’t like this wine (they gave it an average score of 85). Although it lacks fruit and indeed it is after the pick, I really loved it. I liked the aromas of earth and mildew. Purple color, with orange-brown edges. Light/medium body. A bit of bitterness in the palate. Medium acidity and medium finish
Red
1998 Château Montrose France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
90 points
Tasted blind. Opaque, cloudy ruby color. Red and ripe fruits, earth and hints of alcohol. Medium bodied, soft tannins. Harmony between nose and palate. Medium acidity and medium finish.

Flight 3 - And again... another St Estephe (1 note)

Red
2006 Château Montrose France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe
89 points
Dark, almost impenetrable ruby color. In the nose a lot of ripe fruit with hints of smoke. Full-bodied, a lot of fruit in the palate too, Harmony between palate and nose. Predominant tannins, medium acidity.

Flight 4 - Rioja (1 note)

Red

Tasted blind. Bright ruby/orange color. Terrific nose with a lot of flowers, almost without fruit. Medium bodied, very elegant, perfect balance, still good acidity. Excellent!
